What are we even doing here?
Hi Friends,

I don’t know why but a moment in a vice presidential debate in 1992 always sticks with me. Admiral James Stockdale, a war hero and an academic, was somehow plucked out of nowhere by Ross Perot to be his Vice Presidential candidate. During a debate, the Admiral started his comments: “Who am I? Why am I here?” People laughed nervously along with him because that is precisely what everyone wanted to know. Who are you and how did you even get here? What are we even doing here?

The admiral deserves deep respect. He didn’t do so hot in that election cycle, but that is okay. He asked a really good question.

Who are we, at Unity? And why are we here?

What are we *for*?

This is always the question for congregations and spiritual centers and mosques and temples. I won’t be speaking about the admiral on Sunday. I’ll be speaking about Unity and why this town needs a strong and thriving Unity in the Rockies. A love letter from me to you, the good folks at Unity.

Hope to see you Sunday,

Rev. Roger Butts

Seeds of Devotion

Seeds of Devotion has been selected for a virtual book club. It starts October 1 and gives folks an opportunity to engage the book 14 minutes a day. This will be especially good for folks who are seeking community but may be at home or reluctant to come out. There will be small group opportunities, reading opportunities, sharing stories, etc.

Would you help me spread the word?

Contact me with any questions. Thanks for helping me spread the word!

Love, Roger

UNITY BASICS

If you are a new Unity student or if want to strengthen your foundation of Unity teachings, this class is for you! This four-week class covers the founding of the Unity movement, affirmations and denials, and much more!

This Class will meet on Sunday, September26 and October 3rd from 11:30 to 12:30 pm on Zoom.

Please contact Linda Anthony at rlmanthony4unity@aol.com to register. We need your email address so you can receive the link to the class and the handouts. Looking forward to an exciting class.
The Bingo team of about 10 volunteers, started supporting games for Unity in the fall of 2014. Today, we still have several of those original volunteers who come each week. We are all good friends, and we really enjoy each other’s company and we have a fun while we run the Bingo game. Outside of Bingo, we celebrate birthdays (sometimes celebrating with a meal in a restaurant) and keep track of how each other are doing. Bingo can bring in $3000 or more each month to really help out our budget. Bingo is one of the best fund raisers I know of.

Since June we are down 3 volunteers and we need to have some additional folks help us out. If you could volunteer once a month for about 3 hours, (any Wednesday from about 11:30 to about 2:30 at Carefree Bingo (on North Carefree Rd. about 1 block west of Academy), it would help out the Bingo team greatly. 3 hours per month doesn't sound like a lot but each time someone helps the team for 3 hours, another volunteer can take a day off. If you could help out 2 times a month or even be a ‘regular’, that would really be a big help.

You need to either be a member or on a path to become a member and you need to be vaccinated.

Please contact me at dontur@gmail.com if you can give us a hand!

Thank you!
