A workshop at the 2020 UBCM Convention will bring together diverse voices to explore how racism continues to manifest itself in Canadian society. Panelists will look beyond the headlines to shed light on the challenges faced by black and Indigenous peoples and others, and to point towards concrete approaches to confronting systemic racism. Non-member registration fee reduced
  
As planning continues for the 2020 UBCM Convention, we are reducing our fees for non-member individuals and organizations. In addition to being able to observe the keynote addresses, presentations and resolution sessions, non-member registrants will be able to connect with other delegates in our virtual lounge. Features include direct messaging with other delegates, and the ability to post discussion topics. Registration for non-members is now $450. New Funding for active transportation planning
  
A new Active Transportation Planning program was launched this week. Local governments with populations up to 25,000 can now submit applications. The goal of the program is to support local governments to incorporate or enhance active transportation components of formal planning documents, including research, consultation, and policy development. Housing Supply Challenge
  
The Federal Government has announced the October launch of the first round of the Housing Supply Challenge. This round will disburse $25 million to fund solutions addressing gaps in housing data. Eligible applicants, including local governments, can find application details on the Impact Canada webpage. The Housing Supply Challenge was introduced in the 2019 Budget to address barriers to housing supply and affordability.
