This week we honor Indigenous Peoples' Day.  

A national holiday celebrated in 15 states, replacing Columbus Day.

In 1977 it first was proposed at the United Nations International Conference on Discrimination against Indigenous Populations in the Americas. South Dakota became the first state to rename Columbus Day in 1990.
