Greetings!

We at Southern Utah Bicycle Alliance trust that you are staying safe and maintaining your social distancing while enjoying our beautiful Southern Utah outdoors on your bike of choice. Bicycling continues to be a healthy alternative to exercising during this pandemic not only because of the cardio workout it gives you but also by boosting your immune system "just in case".

Missing Link is OPEN!
This newest section of trail avoids the need to use a busy section of Riverside Drive and now offers great views of the river along a beautiful boardwalk. This $1.8M 3-mile section of new trail was funded by UDOT and the City of St. George and provides a continuous trail connection from SunRiver to Hurricane. The Virgin River South Trail was also recently extended with a nice new loop to Springs Park (along 1450 S) and the Virgin River South Trail from Man-O-War Drive to SunRiver has been newly resurfaced.
New Bike and Pedestrian Tunnel
A pedestrian and bicycle tunnel under South Bluff Street near Main street has been funded by the City of St. George and UDOT ($2.5M).

This tunnel will connect with existing bike trails on either side of Bluff and future new bike lanes on 400E. Completion is slated for Fall 2021.
Yet Another New Bike Path!
Washington City has just completed a new section of trail extending the Virgin River North Trail from where it ended (beyond Sullivan Park ) to the bridge at Country Way and continuing to the county line.
SR 7 Bike Path Update
The preliminary design work is now complete on a 25.8 mile long multi-user paved path along the length of SR-7 (Southern Parkway). This trail, once funded, will connect with SunRiver (at I-15 exit 2) and will proceed the length of Southern Parkway connecting in Hurricane. This design work was funded through a grant from UDOT.
A Smoother Ride
The Southern Parkway, always a favorite route for local cyclists, has been known for the rough chip seal along the first five miles of this route (between I-15 and River Road).

After working with UDOT and trying several techniques the chip seal has been replaced for motorists (using micro-surfacing technology) and in the bike lane using a new smoother micro-surfacing application.
Bike Symbols on City Streets

SUBA is now helping the City of St. George paint bike lanes throughout the city. Stay tuned for more information on how you can volunteer to join this fun project.
Cold Weather Biking
The mornings are chilly once again. This means adding 1-2 more or different layers to your normal kit. Some of the most portable and effective layers include a buff for your face and forehead, bike sleeves, gloves and warmer shoes. Depending on the temperatures, you may also want to add a base layer for your torso, lined tights or wind pants and a jacket. On a budget? Insert a sheet from your morning newspaper inside of your shirt as added insulation. You can even recycle it when you’re done with it! Eyes running? Maybe add some ski goggles. And don’t forget to add some brightly colored and reflective items. With the shorter days, these important safety elements will help drivers spot you on the roads.
