Spooky Symphony Goes Virtual on October 25 *
Celebrating its 11th year, the Spooky Symphony will move online to deliver unforgettable performances of the most beautiful scary music ever written, without the real life angst of having to crowd together in a big concert hall. The sponsors of the event, The Children’s Trust, The Alhambra Orchestra and the Greater Miami Youth Symphony (GYSY), decided to take the concert online to make sure it was as safe and accessible, while still offering chilling fun and scary selection of music.

Census Ends Thursday! *
An unprecedented Census will come to an end Thursday, October 15, according to Census officials after the Supreme Court ruled that the current administration could end field operations early. Back and forth between the federal judicial and executive branches brought confusion on when the deadline to fill out the 2020 Census was, but the top court in the land ruled definitively earlier this week. You have one more day!
As providers, you are in a unique position to help direct families on filling out the census and informing them that it's safe, easy and important. Reach out to them and let them know it's their last chance. Remember, the individuals you serve are often those who will most benefit from an accurate census count.

Join University of Miami's Sebastian the Ibis Reading Squad
Sebastian and the Miami Hurricanes are calling on K-5 students to join Sebastian’s Reading Squad! Sebastian’s Reading Squad, presented by the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, encourages elementary school children to proactively read. Students enrolled in the program are asked to track their reading and read a minimum of 120 minutes within each season. Upon successfully hitting their reading goal, squad members will receive exclusive invitations to exciting online celebrations hosted by the UM Athletic Department.

The institute accepts most Medicaid HMO’s and has funding for children of low-income families who do not have insurance. ICFH also provides individual/family therapy and psychiatry services for adults who have Medicaid.

FREE Perinatal & Infant Loss Grief Support Group
The Children's Bereavement Center is offering free support groups in English & Spanish for grieving mothers and their partners who have suffered a miscarriage, neonatal death, stillbirth, or infant loss. The groups are facilitated by mental health professionals with expertise in perinatal loss and meet every Tuesday at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Individuals/couples decide how long they wish to participate. Age-appropriate support groups also available to other children in the family.

In-Home Positive Parenting Program
The Federation of Families is offering the Triple P Parenting Program for parents with children who have mild to moderate behavioral issues and are under the age of 12 years old. The Program consists of 10 free, 1 hour, parenting sessions with a Triple P Parent Educator from the Federation of Families. Parents will learn and practice the skills necessary to tackle behavioral challenges with various strategies implemented from the evidence based Triple P curriculum.

Life Coaches for Youth to Help Transition to Independence
The Federation of Families is offering youth and young adults, ages 14-21, access to a Transition to Independence program that provides a life coach that will provide a mental health diagnosis to identify obstacles to living independently, obtaining employment, education, and in developing supportive social and recreational activities. The program is free, evidence based, and will provide a lasting support system to the young adults.

Give Miami Day, hosted by The Miami Foundation, is one of the nation's largest annual giving events. This year's Give Miami Day returns on November 19. All 501(c)(3) organizations serving Miami-Dade County are eligible to participate in this free fundraising event. The deadline to register is October 15.
