Playful Engineers
Saturday, 9/25, 10:30 - 12pm
Virtual Program

Play meets science in this dynamic program that will teach children and families all about basic forces and motion in a way that's fun and exciting. In this hands-on STEM workshop, children will design, build, and play with Rube Goldberg machines, exploding popsicle stick snakes, ping pong catapults, and more. 

The calendar event has a list of suggested materials to have on hand, a majority are things that can be readily found at home.

This program is brought to you through an LSTA grant by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
The Maker Lab is Open
The Maker Lab will be open weekly Tuesday - Thursday, 3-5pm. No appointments necessary (excluding 3D printer use), but please stop by the information desk to sign a waiver before heading into the room. Children under 16 must have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian. Makers under the age of 12 must be accompanied by their parent/guardian. Your waiver will be good for 30 days.

Appointments will be necessary if you would like anything printed on the 3D printer. Make an appointment in person or by emailing the Library Director, Libby. Projects are limited to a maximum of 5 hours print time and your project/file type will need to be approved by library staff. Please allow for several days for prints to be completed.

Calling all local artists!
We are looking for artists to display their artwork on the walls of the Community Room as well as the Lobby. Art is displayed for a month at a time and will be available for viewing by anyone coming into the library. Looking for more information or would like to reserve the space? Please read our Exhibition Policy and submit an application.

Beginner's Chess for All Ages
Tuesday, October 26th, 7-8:15pm (virtual program)

Get an introduction to chess with instructor Glenn Davison! No chess set required. Suitable for adults, teens, and children ages 8+.
Chess Playing with Game of Kings
2nd Saturday of each month, 10:30 - 1:30pm. No registration required.

Teens/adults and any skill levels welcome to join in and play a game of chess! You may bring your own chess board, but it's not required.

Meet Author Steven Manchester

Join us in person as Steven presents Chasing the Dream: From Gulf War Vet to Bestselling Author which describes his 30-year journey to making his lifelong dream come true. He will explain how Passion, Purpose, & Perseverance sustained him through many years of hardship and rejection.

Discussion group activities will include watching movies, listening to podcasts, and reading books (both fiction and nonfiction) in advance of our meetings that will help educate about systemic racism, prejudice, white privilege and what it means to be a black person in our society.

Focaccia Art Cook Along
Tuesday, 10/5, 6:30 - 8pm

Join chef Liz Barbour of The Creative Feast for this beautifully delicious cooking demonstration. Liz will share an easy focaccia recipe that will become her blank canvas. Using a colorful palette of cheeses, meats, herbs, vegetables, and edible flowers, Liz will show you how create an edible gardenscape focaccia work of art.

A list of ingredients and equipment will be provided in advance, if you want to cook along!

Mindful Monday
3rd Monday of each month, 3:30 - 4pm

Stressed or overwhelmed? Need to get away for a breather? Join us on the 3rd Monday of each month for a brief and relaxed mindfulness session -- including guided meditation, stretching (for those inclined), and discussions about mindfulness myths and strategies.
Watercolor Meet Up
Tuesdays in November, 5:30 - 7:30pm (in person)
No registration is required.

Join us each Tuesday evening in November for a painting session where people can share techniques, tips and projects. 

Bring with you your supplies and what you're currently working on. Please note that there will be no instruction given. This group is for adult watercolor painters, all levels welcome, to gather together and share ideas.
Zentangle
Join a group for an hour of zentangle on Fridays beginning October 1st. This group will meet in the lounge from 10-11am.

Local Horror Author Discussion Panel

Read It and Eat It
Each meeting we will be discussing a different chef or cuisine. Copies of the books we will be discussing will be available at the circulation desk. No Fail Crafts for Adults

Multiage Storytime is back! 
Join Miss Courtney on Town Hill for some spread-out, in-person storytime fun!

Geared towards ages 3 and up but all are welcome.

No registration is required, but attendance will be limited to 15 families. First come, first serve.

TAB works with the Youth Librarian to improve teen programs, the Teen Space in the library, and the YA book collection. Basically, the mission of TAB is to take ownership of teen services at the library and help turn the it into what you want the library to be!
Motion Picture Books

Did you know that some of your favorite movies were picture books first? Join us once a month for a reading of a picture book, followed by a screening of the movie it inspired!

Movie snacks and themed activities will be provided.

This month's book/movie: Shrek by William Steig, adapted by Universal Pictures (rated PG)

This event will take place on Town Hill. In case of inclement weather, registrants will be notified of any changes or cancellation.
Art Adventures

School aged children in grades kindergarten - 4th grade and their parents are welcome to register for this class where we learn about a specific artist and their art style. The children then get to create art in that style. Registration is required for this program.
