The Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience is pleased to announce our new editor-in-chief, Brad Postle, starting January 2021. Brad hails from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he is Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry. Brad has been an integral part of the Cognitive Neuroscience community for several years serving on the organization committee for the Cognitive Neuroscience Society Meetings and an action editor for JoCN for 10 years. Brad will continue to build on the foundations of the field of Cognitive Neuroscience as well as bring new ideas and direction to the Journal. We welcome Brad's vision and guidance and look forward to another successful tenure.
We would also like to profoundly thank Mark D'Esposito for his leadership as editor-in-chief at JoCN for 18 years. Mark helped build JoCN into one of the premier journals in the brain sciences. His resolute desire to build the field of cognitive neuroscience into a dominant force in the life sciences is second to none. We wish Mark well in his new ventures and we all take confidence in knowing that he will be reachable if we need his opinion as we move forward.

Faculty Position Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Neuroscience & Behavior Neuroscience Neuroscience & Behavior University of Nebraska - Omaha The Psychology Department at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Neuroscience & Behavior program. Our lab investigates age-related differences in the neural and behavioral bases of semantic and phonological processes, with a focus on language production. Our primary goals are to further our understanding of the neural factors that contribute to age-related retention and decline seen in language; and to investigate the relationships between structural factors, functional activations, and behavior. The Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Lab at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (PI: Maital Neta) invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Researcher (start date negotiable). The lab uses neuroimaging (fMRI, resting state fMRI), psychophysiology, behavioral techniques, and network analyses to examine individual differences in emotion processing and emotion regulation.
The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field and have a strong publication record that includes neuroimaging studies, preferably with a focus on using fMRI to examine theoretically relevant questions in cognitive psychology and emotion in particular. Candidates with substantial prior experience with advanced MRI methods (e.g., resting state MRI, MVPA, network modeling), and with eye tracking are uniquely attractive. Strong technical skills are preferred, including competence in several programming environments, and familiarity with programs such as E-prime, SPSS, R, Matlab, Python, AFNI, SPM, FSL, and Unix is especially valued but not required and otherwise would be learned on the job.
The lab is funded by the NIMH and NSF, and is housed in the Center for Brain, Biology, & Behavior at UNL (http://cb3.unl.edu/), which has a state-of-the-art Brain Imaging Center and a 3T MRI scanner dedicated for research. Beyond having access to the scanner, the postdoctoral fellow will also have access to with EEG/ERP, fNIRS, tDCS, virtual reality, mobile psychophysiology, eye-tracking (many of which can be measured both in and out of the MRI scanner), as well as several other cutting-edge techniques.

We invite applications for a full-time Postdoc / Senior Researcher position (m / f / d) in the context of the "CovSocial" project (www.covsocial.de) funded by the Max Planck Society and the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) under the direction of Prof. Dr. Mazda Adli (Charité Berlin) and Prof. Dr. Tania Singer (Max Planck Research Group Social Neurosciences) and a consortium of five other professors from Charité (Prof. Dr. Sonja Entringer & Prof. Dr. Christine Heim), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Prof. Dr. Emanuel Voelkle), Freie Universität Berlin (Prof. Dr. Felix Blankenburg) and Max Planck Institute for Psychiatry (Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Binder). The position is initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of extension.
The aim of the project is to investigate factors related to mental health, social stress and social cohesion as well as pro- and antisocial and addictive behaviors during the SARS-CoV2 pandemic in a large cohort of Berliner citizen. The project is divided into two successive phases. These include 1) the retrospective assessment of all relevant variables in the first pandemic period from March to June and 2) a prospective app-based Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) study in a vulnerable subsample including the assessment of objective stress and (epi) genetic markers as well as behavioral variables. The second phase also includes a mental training intervention study with the goal to reduce stress, increase resilience and foster social cohesion.
Your Tasks
- Implementation and execution of the two phases of the study including an app-based Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) study to record mental health and socio-emotional experiences (including social cohesion) during the Covid-19 pandemic with web and app-based methodology.
- Evaluation of questionnaire and daily state-related longitudinal time series data (e.g. EMA).
- Analysis of stress-related biomarkers and (epi) genetic markers.
- Analyses of behavioral data (prosocial behavior, social cognition, stress etc.)
- Implementation of an app-based mental training intervention.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with experts in the field of psychobiology (e.g. stress physiology) and other specialist areas.
- Publication of the results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Your Qualifications
- Successfully completed dissertation in the field of psychology, social neuroscience or another relevant subject.
- Evidence of high scholarly promise in the form of publications and other academic achievements.
- Experience in the development and implementation of psychological experiments and in the use of modern technologies for the collection of psychological data in everyday life (e.g. EMA, palm pilots, mobile phones, internet, event sampling).
- In-depth knowledge of modern statistical analysis methods (e.g. time series analysis, structural equation models, etc.) and the use of software packages (e.g. SPSS, R, MATLAB, etc.).
- Very good knowledge of German and English, both spoken and written.
- Interest in mental training and mindfulness-based intervention studies and translational field research.
- Commitment, organizational skills, ability to work independently, ability to work in a team, flexibility, careful and organized way of working.

The University of Southern California Leonard Davis School of Gerontology is soliciting applications for Postdoctoral positions in the Multidisciplinary Research Training in Gerontology Program. Postdoctoral students should have a research focus on factors influencing human physical and mental health and aging. The aim of this program is to support emerging scientists who will do state of the art work in their own area but also have knowledge of how multiple disciplines approach the study of aging. This program is supported by a grant from the Behavioral and Social Science Division of the National Institute on Aging to the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology Center at USC. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. This program supports five postdoctoral trainees. Trainees must have been awarded a PhD degree by the time they begin. Trainees can be from a variety of fields: Gerontology, Demography, Sociology, Economics, Public Health, Medicine, Public Policy, Psychology, Biology, Social Work and Neuroscience. Trainees are mentored in research by two members of the training faculty. The usual length of traineeship is 2 years. These awards consist of stipends, tuition (if needed), health insurance, and a travel allowance.

The Solomon lab invites applicants for a postdoctoral research position in the cognitive neuroscience of autism. The postdoctoral researcher will play an integral role in overseeing the collection and analysis of functional and structural magnetic resonance imaging data for Dr. Marjorie Solomon's NIH-funded ACE Center project that is a clinical trial comparing the efficacy of cognitive behavior therapy versus medication versus pill placebo and an NIH-funded study investigating internalizing disorders in children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. During data collection, the fellow also may analyze and publish data from the Lab's other grants that investigate cognitive control, memory, and emotion processing in children, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorder. The position also includes opportunities for the postdoctoral researcher to participate in clinically-oriented activities in the Solomon Lab and at the MIND Institute.

The Georgetown Laboratory for Relational Cognition, directed by Adam Green, invites applications for a postdoctoral position focused on NSF- and foundation-funded projects applying cognitive neuroscience methods to questions with relevance to education, the development of creative thinking in STEM, and the neural basis of concepts and beliefs. The work to be done includes implementing a spatially-based reasoning intervention in high school STEM classrooms, and the use of MRI methods to develop predictive neural markers of classroom education-based learning. More broadly, this work seeks to contribute to bridging the gap between the real-world classroom and the cognitive neuroscience laboratory. There will be ample opportunity, dependent on the postdoc's level of interest, to engage with a range of ongoing projects in the lab related to learning, reasoning, creativity, and belief, including neuroimaging and neuromodulation-based approaches.

Areas of emphasis for this position will be to use neuroimaging (fMRI, DWI, EEG) approaches to identify personalized predictors of language and executive function in (1) healthy and neurological samples and (2) after noninvasive brain stimulation (primarily TMS, tDCS). The candidate would be supported with available NIH and donor funding depending on their qualifications and core interests.
Individuals with primary training in network (neuro)science, neuroimaging, and predictive modeling are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional experience with clinical samples, cognitive neurology and neuroscience, and computerized testing is preferred.
Depending on mutual interests, the candidate could work with available and accruing data in healthy samples, stroke, and primary progressive aphasia. In addition, a new area of special focus within the laboratory predictive modeling and adaptive neuromodulation to improve cognitive function.
CogNeW lab is highly interdisciplinary, and we maintain active funded collaborations with researchers at Penn and Georgetown University. PhD project in Neurofeedback Training of Visual Attention:
We seek outstanding and highly motivated applicants with interest in cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychology, and brain imaging to work on a multidisciplinary project involving neurofeedback training of visual attention. The goal of the project is to apply novel approaches with EEG and fMRI to regulate attentional networks and modify attentional performance in both healthy volunteers and patients with brain disorders (e.g. spatial neglect). The project will extend our previous neurofeedback studies and benefit from ongoing collaborations with other researchers in our center with expertise in signal processing, clinical neurology, and neuropsychology. A background in neuroimaging (especially EEG) and good methodological skills in statistical analysis and programming are highly desirable.
The position is offered in the Cognitive Systems section of the Department of Neuroscience of the University of Geneva (https://www.unige.ch/medecine/neuf/en/), located at the Campus Biotech (https://www.campusbiotech.ch), in the center of the city of Geneva, Switzerland.
The candidate will be part of the Laboratory for Behavioral Neurology & Imaging of Cognition, led by Prof. Patrik Vuilleumier (see https://www.unige.ch/medecine/neuf/en/research/grecherche/patrik-vuilleumier/ and https://www.campusbiotech.ch/en/node/328) but he/she will also have strong links with other research groups on Campus Biotech and at EPFL (Lausanne) as well as clinicians at the University Hospital of Geneva (HUG).
The PhD project is funded for 3-4 years and the student will take part to the Lemanic Neuroscience Doctoral School run by UNIGE, UNIL, and EPFL (https://www.unil.ch/ln/en/home/menuinst/ln-doctoral-school.html).

Research Assistant Position RA Position in Educational Neuroscience at Georgetown Cognitive Neuroscience and Education Psychology Georgetown University The Georgetown Laboratory for Relational Cognition, directed by Adam Green, anticipates hiring a research coordinator for an NSF-funded study of concept development and reasoning in real-world high school STEM education. Primary responsibilities will include interfacing with students and families as well as teachers and school administrators.
