There are just a few things to wrap up and this season is officially over. We will be blowing out the irrigation system Friday, November 13, because what could possibly go wrong on the 13th, a Friday in 2020! We hope 2020 is so done with all its challenges that it agrees with us and says, "Sure, let's just get it done!"
The next step on the season wrap-up list is applying snow mold control to the greens, tees and approaches. We typically see pink snow mold in our area. It has a pink cast to the turf usually next to a melting snow bank. Most of the time it just leaves the turf an unsightly mess but if severe enough it can kill it.
The last step is covering the greens with tarps. I know this cuts to the core of you avid golfers, but for the well-being of the greens it has to be done. We will tarp at the first predicted measurable snowfall or December 18, whichever comes first.
It was a very interesting 2020. It's had its challenges but also a couple of really high point that puts everything in perspective. We grateful and humbled by your support of PGC this year, so from our backyard to yours, the grounds staff would like to wish you a wonderful holiday season and a very healthy new year!
