Bucks Alumnus James LeGette
Selected for the Philadelphia Eagles cheer squad

Congratulations to first year Eagles cheerleader, James LeGette! Following in the footsteps of Kyle Tanguay, who in 2019 became the Eagles’ first male cheerleader in 35 years, LeGette is one of two men on the cheer squad this year.

LeGette grew up in Bucks and attended Bucks County Commnity College. As a teen he performed as a dancer at Sesame Place and that is where he realized that performing was his passion.

Here is where you can find the full article about LeGette.

Travelin' McCourys:
Saturday, October 9th at 7:30 p.m.

The McCoury brothers-- Ronnie (mandolin) and Rob (banjo) -- were born into the bluegrass tradition. Talk about a source abundant and pure; their father, Del, is among the most influential and successful musicians in the history of the genre. Years on the road with Dad in Del McCoury Band honed their knife-edge chops and encouraged the duo to imagine how traditional bluegrass could cut innovative pathways into 21st-century music.

Alumni Council Spotlight: Sam Griga '01

This month we are shining the Alumni Spotlight on Alumni Council Member Sam Griga.

Education: Associate's Degree in American Studies from Bucks County Community College and Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from West Virginia University.

Q: Can you tell us about your career journey?
I have always had a sales role, even while I was going to Bucks. I currently work as a Field Services Coordinator for Timberlane, a high-end custom shutter and garage door manufacturer. I really like solving problems for people, that is essentially what sales boils down to. Some of the things I learned at Bucks that I use everyday at work are problem solving, time management, good listening skills, organizational skills, and most importantly speaking and writing in a professional manner.
Q: What does being an Alumni Council member mean to you?
I take great pride in being a Bucks alum,. When I was a student on campus my passion to help others was ignited, that is why I try to have a servant attitude in sales and in my interactions with others. During my time in the Human Rights Club, led by Dr. Chris Bursk, I made some great relationships with the members. My classmates were friendly, wanted to put in the work, and we challenged each other in class. My professors taught with a passion that I sometimes didn't see at other institutions.

Q: Aside from your work with the Alumni Association, what do you enjoy in your free time?
When I am not working I love spending time with my daughter Molly, my girlfriend Lisa, and the rest of my family and friends. When I am not on whatever mission my daughter signs me up for when she sees something cool that she needs to experience, I love watching the Eagles, Sixers, and West Virginia football and basketball. I love going to breweries, working around the house, and just visiting neat places around the area.

Q: Do you have any advice for current students or recent graduates starting their career journey?
I would say the biggest thing that I would recommend to anyone who is just starting out is to be the person that others want to be around. Be early to work, work hard, and hold yourself to a standard that your mom would be proud of.
Men's Soccer:
Haig Scores Four in Debut

The Bucks men's soccer team opened their 2021 campaign in the USCAA with a 6-0 victory over Penn St.- Scranton on September 7th at PS Scranton Field.

Joseph Roller (Warminster, PA/William Tennent) opened the scoring for the Centurions with a solo goal just minutes in (8:10) the first half and then freshman Jaden Haig (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) took over. Haig put away added three goals in the span of 10 minutes with two assists coming from midfielder, Gabriel Meira (Telford, PA/Pennridge) and one from sophomore, Zachary Shefsky (Holland, PA/Council Rock South). The second half started like the first with Haig adding his fourth of the contest just minutes in (48:17). Vladyslav Bordia (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) closed the scoring with his first goal of the season, assisted by Luis Beletzuy (Morrisville, PA/Morrisville) to give Bucks the 6-0 victory.

Goalkeeper, Christopher Clark (Morrisville, PA/Pennsbury) recorded 3 saves to earn his first victory and shutout of the season.

"We started out very quickly today and so I was very pleased with that," remarked Head Coach Justin Burroughs, "We still have areas we definitely need to work on but today was a good start to the season."
