NUSD Trustees Unanimously Approve New Science Instructional Materials

During the April 6, 2022, Board of Education meeting, the Natomas Unified School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved new Science Textbooks and Instructional Materials for Grades TK-12 starting with the upcoming school year. Staff began the process of researching new material in the fall of 2019; however, this process was paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic and school closures. Staff resumed work in May of 2021, engaging teachers, students, and parents along the way before bringing forward a recommendation to the Board. Some of the engagement included feedback from about 1,000 students, piloting the material and activities with 50 teachers who provided written feedback, and hosting virtual and in-person informational sessions and meetings for families to review and provide feedback on the materials before a final recommendation was presented.
It's Open House Season in Natomas Unified!

Many of our schools hosted Open House recently welcoming students, families, and community members on campus to meet teachers, learn about programs, and showcase all the amazing things happening at the respective schools. It was great to see families back at school again supporting and celebrating their children.
Partnership with Jibe Gets Bikes Back on the Road

Spring is in the air, and thanks to a partnership with Jibe, some of our families are able to enjoy the beautiful outdoors with their recently repaired or tuned-up bikes. On Saturday, March 26, families were able to bring their bikes to the Inderkum High School parking lot to get worked on at no charge. Jibe provided experienced Bike Technicians to work on the bikes, a great opportunity for students enrolled in the Bicycle Technology course at Inderkum to see repair work in action.

“This event was a great way for the Bike Tech students to interact with the community on a professional level and to see the mechanics in action as that's one of the many ways they can put their Bicycle Technology skills into action - as a career or for fun while benefiting others,” shared Elle Steele, CTE Bicycle Technology Teacher.

“Bike Doc is a great resource for the North Natomas community. With all the trails and bike routes, there are many great ways to explore and travel around North Natomas by bicycle.”
