A Structural EIT’s responsibility at Cushing Terrell include structural design, drafting, and delivering complex design solutions. A thorough knowledge design, and experience in framing of structural building systems. You will perform and review load calculations. You will develop project specifications and construction documents. What’s Needed:

COVID-19 Information
We are offering flexible training sessions via Zoom or in-person, as needed. The job will take place in our physical call center, with highly qualified telephone interviewers moved remotely after a period of qualified performance on site. 
We have very strict COVID-19 safety procedures in place for our call center, including: 100% mask requirement at all times; 6ft minimum distance at all times; temperature checks upon arrival; hand washing upon arrival and after any break; work station sanitization upon arrival and departure.
 
The Survey Research Center (SRC) at the Wyoming Survey & Analysis Center (WYSAC) is currently hiring bright, energetic people as part-time telephone interviewers in our call center.  This is a great opportunity for work for your students while gaining valuable research experience.
 
We offer flexible work hours (daytime and evening shifts) and pay that starts at $10.50 an hour after a short probationary period, with room for increases based on performance. Please feel free to pass this email along to those who might be interested. We are also looking for bilingual interviewers who can speak both Spanish and English.
Current shifts available for employees to choose from are Sunday through Thursday, 4:00 pm or 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Monday through Friday, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm, and Saturday 1:00 pm-5 pm.

About the SRC
The Survey Research Center was established as a unit of the University of Wyoming in the 1970s and joined with the Statistical Analysis Center to form the Wyoming Survey & Analysis Center in 2004. Researchers collect, manage, analyze, and report data to inform planning and funding decisions.
 
The Survey Research Center operates an in-house call center, equipped with staff, technology, and software to conduct computer-assisted telephone interview surveys. Our telephone surveys reach respondents on both cellular and landline telephones and can be targeted to geographies and populations of interest.

SUPER Internship
The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Earth Observing Laboratory (EOL) seeks undergraduate engineering students to participate as interns in the 2021 Summer Undergraduate Program for Engineering Research (SUPER).

The 2021 SUPER internship will run for 11 weeks, from May 17 – July 30, 2021.

Timeline:
Applications will be accepted through January 17, 2021, or until suitable candidates are selected
 Selected candidates will be interviewed between February 1 – February 19, 2021
 Offers will be made in early March 2021

Research:
Interns work hands-on with NCAR/EOL engineers on atmospheric observing systems and developments, including radar, lidar, and sounding systems and associated software developments such as data analysis, visualization, and management. Interns may spend part of the summer participating in a field deployment, operating and/or supporting one or more EOL observing systems.

Projects accomplished by past SUPER interns include:
 Design and experimental characterization of a multilayer aircraft radome to determine scattering and propagation properties for atmospheric radar applications
 Evaluation of optical components for use in a ground-based LIDAR platform that remotely detects water vapor and aerosols
 Characterization of a wind profiling radar system performance
 Design of an object-oriented and networked software framework to control operation of a particle analysis instrument
 Upgrading the Atmospheric Sounding Processing Environment (ASPEN) software used for analysis and quality control of sounding data.

Reports and Presentations:
Each intern prepares a poster presentation of their work at the conclusion of the summer program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 Basic knowledge, through coursework, of engineering concepts.
 Good problem solving skills.
 Ability and willingness to learn and use scientific and engineering computing tools and programs.
 Ability to work with diverse staff.
 Good oral and written communication skills.
 Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer program.
 Ability to interact with mentors and peers in a manner that supports collaboration and inquiry.
 Working knowledge of basic office and communication software (e.g., G+ suite, email clients).
 Ability and willingness to work within guidelines and policies of the organization and assigned work groups.

Decision-Making and Problem Solving:
Interns are expected to solve basic problems independently, to exercise judgment on when to ask mentors for help, and to consult with mentors on larger problems or community related issues.

Education Requirements:
Currently enrolled as an undergraduate in an accredited US university or college with major/concentration in any of the following disciplines:
 Computer Science or Software Engineering
 Electrical Engineering
 Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering
 Optical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering

Western Research Institute Internship
Western Research Institute (WRI), a leading research and technology development company located in Laramie, Wyoming, seeks a creative and enthusiastic individual to join the paid internship program in the Sustainable Emerging Technologies (SET) business unit, a team dedicated to the development and commercialization sustainable technology for the future. The position is expected to start on January 3, 2021.

Brief Description of Duties:
Position requires an interest in participating in experimental and processing studies in wide variety of research areas focused on providing fundamental data for proof of concept and scale up. The successful candidate will be a member of a research and development team and will work closely with other team members. Must be willing to learn as well as interact with team members to solve problems as they are encountered.

The successful candidate is responsible to members of the senior research staff at SET and will be an active participant in the execution of laboratory-scale processing experiments; research equipment maintenance; modification and design of equipment; and product/feedstock analysis. The successful candidate will assist in operation of process equipment, the collection and evaluation of experimental data, providing the results in a useable form to senior research personnel, and support of laboratory analysis of feedstocks and products. The candidate will be encouraged to generate new ideas, processing concepts, and processing upgrades within a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Position requires sophomore class standing in chemical engineering with a minimum 2.5 GPA. One year job related or intern experience in chemical engineering or closely related engineering discipline is a plus. Position requires a demonstrated level of understanding of physical and engineering science skills, mechanical skills, good written and oral communication skills, proficiency with the English language, and aptitude with computer applications including; word processing (Word), database (Excel), presentation (MS PowerPoint) and other graphic display and data treatment programs. Candidate must also be creative, enthusiastic, exude a positive attitude, and work well in a team culture.
