Being that we are over halfway into the Advent season, can you recall what the word Advent means? Sometimes we get into our routines and they become second nature: brushing our teeth, feeding the children, letting the dog outside, turning on the coffee maker. We simply take action without asking or reminding ourselves why we are even taking action in the first place. We know it's important to move forward, but why? The word “Advent'' means, “the arrival of a notable person, thing or event.” For us as Christian believers, Advent is referencing Jesus Christ. We are actually to be focusing on the “coming” celebration of Jesus’ birth and the second “coming” or return of Jesus Christ.
While “waiting” for Jesus Christ may sound like a time of idleness, it is anything but. It is in this time of waiting that we are to be serving and worshiping Him. And some great news… we don’t have to do it alone. He has already given you the first of your inheritance - The Holy Spirit. “The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.” Isaiah 11:2
Today as you are waiting for Jesus Christ, how may you break from your normal routines of the day and discover how He is inviting you to join Him in service, until His return?
