ETZ CHAYIM PROJECT
Singing our Precious Torah,
the Tree of Life, into Bloom - Together!
The weather is starting to warm up, the flowers are appearing in gardens and parks. Spring, and with it, Pesach, are upon us! Along with these outward signs of nature turning to re-birth and blossoming once again, we welcome the first small steps in rebuilding our prayer community through in-person services once again, however slowly and cautiously. But one of our most precious and important ways of coming together in song, the robust communal singing that fills the room and rocks the pews, remains sadly out of reach, for now.

Here is one path to staying connected through song we can take as a community:

You are cordially invited to take part in the Etz Chayim Project. (If you contributed to the Ki Anu Amecha Project during this High Holidays, these instructions may sound familiar - but even if you did not, don’t let it stop you from trying now!)

We ask you to record a video of yourself (or your whole family!) singing one of our beloved melodies for Etz Chayim from the comfort and safety of your own home. You’ll be singing along with Natasha’s voice on the guide track, linked here.

Here are the Instructions on How to Record Your Video:
If you like, you can use the musical notation of the melody. Please don’t forget to clap in the beginning, as instructed, to help us align all the videos together in the end.

Here are the instructions on How to Upload Your Video:
Once your video is done to your satisfaction, please upload it here at this link.

IMPORTANT DEADLINE:
We must receive your video no later than Friday, April 9 in order to use it in the final cut. If you can make and upload it sooner, all the better!

If you have any questions or concerns, please write to me at Cantornatasha@gmail.com Remember, you DON’T need to be a professional singer. We just want to see your face and hear your voice, smooth or crackly, in tune or close to tune. Thank you for considering this invitation - we truly hope that you’ll join in!

This project should not take too much of your time, but it will make an enormous difference for our entire community, enabling us to bring our hearts and our voices together once again, in celebration of the beauty of our tradition, as well as our resilience in the face of challenge, as we sing our precious Torah, the Tree of Life, into bloom!

May your Pesach be sweet, joyous and liberating!
