Greetings!

We are half-way through the year as we welcome summer with the arrival of June! Both the months of May and June are very sentimental to me. I was unable to spend Mother's Day with my Mom, who remains far away in New York City. Now missing my Dad in June as we celebrate Father's Day - I lost him in 1992, but still feel his love and support everyday.

It wasn't easy for him to move the family from Taiwan to New York City in 1972. He worked very hard at living his own dream while taking care of the family. His drive and passion still inspires me to this day.

Here's my Dad painting at an art show and I'm working at my bench in my studio ... I'm so lucky to have my Dad as my mentor and to receive his unwavering support towards my dream of becoming an artist.

June Birthstones: Pearl & Alexandrite

The glowing luster of the pure white pearl was long believed to bring serenity and a happy marriage to those of June birth. Pearls were presented as gifts to Chinese royalty as early as 2,300 BC, while in ancient Rome, pearl jewelry was considered the ultimate status symbol. According to legend, Cleopatra crushed a pearl into a glass of wine to prove to Marc Antony that she could give the most expensive dinner in history.

June's alternate birthstone, the radiant alexandrite, often described as "emerald by day, ruby by night" is the very rare, color-change variety of chrysoberyl. Originally discovered in Russia’s Ural Mountains in the 1830s, it’s now found in Sri Lanka, East Africa, and Brazil, but fine material is exceptionally rare and valuable.
