THE FRIDAY REVIEW

St. Rose School

October 15, 2021

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."

-Proverbs 27:17

Greetings from Mr. G

If I could freeze a moment in time it would be this past Wednesday afternoon at the Pumpkin Bowl. The cheering, dancing and good sportsmanship captured the essence of our St. Rose School spirit and filled many hearts with joy. I am grateful to everyone who made this memorable school wide event possible. This kicked off our 8th graders' journey to the finish line and we will all be rooting for them every step of the way.

The benefits of a Preschool-8th grade learning environment are manifold; studies show the significance of this model in which students are nurtured, encouraged and challenged to grow, each year and experience building on the next. In this setting younger children aspire to future responsibilities and older children become role models, inspiring confidence and gleaning skills that will be of great benefit to them in high school, college and beyond. The proof is in our successful alumni who often reflect on their solid foundation at St. Rose School. Mrs. B's Adventures in Student Life offers great insights into the Preschool-8th grade experience.

I am very grateful to families who have paid the Tuition Gap fee of $2,058 per child, for those who have designated our school for matching funds and gifts in memory of loved ones. Every contribution helps us reach our $150,000 goal for the Blooms Fund and ensures that we can continue to provide a stellar academic, faith focused education for your children.

Another weekend is here -- enjoy these splendid autumn colors!

God Bless,

Mr. G

  • Arrivals begin at 6pm.
  • For the safety of all, we need to be firm about closing the Trunk R Treat area off to traffic at 6:45pm sharp.

  • Those who will arrive late or need to leave early can park in the parking lot in front of the school.

We are grateful to have a large group of parent volunteers helping us plan and run this event. Thanks to everyone who is helping make this great!

PRESCHOOL CORNER

Our 4 year old and Transitional Kindergarten classes danced and cheered along the sidelines at the Pumpkin Bowl this week and kept up with all of the action. They are such a special part of our school families as are the 3 year old's whose 11:45 a.m. dismissal prevented them from coming but they are blooming every day, busy with fun, fall activities. The light in the eyes and joy in the hearts of our littlest learners brings a spark to us all. One of this week's Religion lessons focused on learning to shine like Jesus and bring their light to the world, like the jack o lantern.

WEEKLY FEATURE

The Knights of Columbus

Although they don't wear shining armor, their hearts and actions shine with God's love. The Knights of Columbus are men, 18 and over, who serve the parish, school and community in a variety of ways. Founded in 1882 by Blessed Michael McGivney, a parish priest at St. Mary's in New Haven who was recently beatified, the Knights have councils around the world. Here at St. Rose we are blessed with an incredibly active, giving council. The Knights are guardians of our school, they work on additions and repairs, run the annual Veteran's Day Poster/Essay Contest and in school assembly (click here to continue)
