June is Men’s Health Month

The Empowerment Network encouraging men to go to the doctor

In keeping with its mission to raise awareness about total body health in men including its primary focus, prostate cancer education and testing, The Empowerment Network, Inc. (TEN), is hosting a Men’s Health Month Kick-off awareness press conference commencing at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1^st.

The press conference will be held at the organization’s Cancer Center, 6000 West Florissant Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63136 in north St. Louis.

During the month of June, TEN will promote awareness activities to encourage men to focus on their health - for themselves and their families by pledging to make a doctor’s appointment, get a physical exam and get a prostate screening. The month will feature radio campaign, television interviews and community health fairs.

The press conference will include Dr. Fredrick Echols, a nationally renowned medical and public health professional, who will share insights about the state of men’s health in the St. Louis region.

PROSTATE CANCER SURVIVOR FROM IRELAND THANKS THE EMPOWERMENT NETWORK FOR SUPPORT

Date: 7^th March 2022

I am a prostate cancer patient from Kilkenny in Ireland. I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Prostate Cancer on the 1^st of June 2021 at age 44 years. I had surgery on the 11^th of June 2021 to remove my Prostate and to deal with the cancer.

Unfortunately when I received post surgery results in August 2021 I was told that the Cancer had spread further. This is extremely serious especially with an aggressive disease and I was in despair and did not know where to turn or what to do. I am a father of two young boys (2 and 12) and my future was now very uncertain. I also didn’t know what was ahead of me for my cancer journey.

Around this time I did a lot of research and came across The Empowerment Network and read about this support network and all the great work going on. I sent an email to reach out and immediately I had a reply asking if I was interested in a call. Brian is wearing a robe sent to him from The Empowerment Network.

TEN Prostate Cancer Support Group gathered May 14th for a "SuperHero Power Session" presented by motivational speaker and life coach, Dr. Shonta Smith.

The gathering was in Home Heights Park in the City of St. Johns.
