To meet the requirement of Objective 8 in Stage 3 of Public Health Reporting, providers using the last 90 day reporting of 2020 who are not excluded from this measure need to register by Nov. 29, 2020, at the latest to meet the minimum requirements of active engagement option 1.
EPs may apply for state registries Here.

For the National Ambulatory Health Care Surveys: Click here.

Active Engagement Option 1 - Completed  Registration to Submit Data:
The EP registered to submit data with the PHA or, where applicable, the CDR to which the information is being submitted; Registration was completed within 60 days after the start of the EHR reporting period; And, the EP is awaiting an invitation from the PHA or CDR to begin testing and validation. This option allows providers to meet the measure when the PHA or the CDR has limited resources to initiate the testing and validation process. Providers that have registered in previous years do not need to submit an additional registration to meet this requirement for each EHR reporting period.

Are you ready for the CMS Patient Access and Interoperability Final Rule?

A limited survey conducted by the eHealth Initiative, a non-profit organization that supports healthcare transformation through research, education and advocacy, indicates that many providers are not. The answers reveal that almost one third of providers are not familiar with the final rule, 39% indicating they were somewhat familiar and only 28% indicating they were very familiar with the rule. Survey respondents also included payers and vendors. Additional details can be found at eHI Survey.

While the survey is not specific for every compliance, it captures our concern and confirms what we've observed and heard from our provider clients. CMS has provided very little guidance around the requirement for updating Direct Contact information in NPPES with a vague deadline of late 2020. We recognize there are multiple challenges and competing priorities for providers, 89% indicated a desire for extension of the deadlines. However, we need to move forward and ILHITREC is ready and willing to help. Past webinars and newsletters are available on our website. Please reach out to info@ilhitrec.org for direct assistance.
