Worship with Us this Sunday

March 26, 2023

10:00am In-person and Facebook Live or replay on Facebook later

It’s the Fifth Sunday of Lent. We will light our Lenten candles and continue our theme of Jesus Met and Known. We will hear the story of the dry bones in the valley that suddenly aren’t dry or just bones.... the Holy meets us in the valley and brings wholeness and spirit... Ezekiel 37:1-14

We will sing You Are Welcome Here; Kyrie Eleison; I Want Jesus to Walk with Me; Jesus Tawa Pano; You Are Mine; Just A Closer Walk with Thee.

You don’t want to miss this worship experience.... A few weeks ago, PUCCer Brad Lyons, president and publisher of CBP/Chalice Press, mentioned that they were having an in-person Board Meeting here in St Louis at the end of March. He mentioned that Karen Georgia Thompson, one of the Associate General Ministers/Presidents of our UCC, would be here as she sits on the Board. He asked if we might want to invite her to worship with us that Sunday. She accepted our invitation. In the meantime we all learned that she is the UCC Search Committee’s Candidate to follow UCC General Minister and President John Dorhauer upon his retirement this summer. We were sure she would have to rearrange her schedule and end up not being able to be with us .... but we were wrong! Brad and Kevin and delighted to share worship leadership with Rev Dr Karen Georgia Thompson this Sunday.

Our 2nd Mile Lent mission partners are Lydia’ House; Unleashing Potential; Heifer International; and Eden Seminary. PUCCer Kari Borgmann will tell us more about Eden Seminary this week.

Please participate in worship virtually via our livestream on Facebook if that is convenient for you and/or if you have tested positive for Covid in the last 5 days.

Masks should be worn and respected for in-person worship under the following conditions:

1) You have tested positive for COVID 6-10 days ago and you still have symptoms;

2) You are in a high-risk group and/or have underlying conditions;

3) You are more comfortable wearing a mask.

In order to protect individuals and the wider community, we strongly encourage up-to-date vaccinations and boosters against all communicable diseases.

Spring Church School: Sharing God's Light & Love

Spring finds us celebrating and learning about many special days such as, Palm Sunday, Easter, Earth Day, Mothers’ Day, and Pentecost. This Gather Round curriculum centers around the theme of God’ Light and Love shining through us and calling us to share that Love with others.

Our youth are exploring and discussing questions centered around justice, grace, and gratitude as we pilot a new curriculum: Faith Questions.

PUCC Youth Road Trip to Elephant Rocks

One of Missouri’s most interactive state parks, Elephant Rocks is a giant pile of pink granite boulders just begging to be climbed on. The youth will be heading to the park, near Middle Brook, Missouri, about 90 minutes south of the church, in April or May. Take a moment to vote in this Doodle poll — https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/boZN8NBa — to indicate which Saturday or Sunday works best for the youth(s) in your house. We’ll pick a main date and a rain date based on when the most youth can attend.

Departure times will be 10:00am on Saturday or 11:15am (immediately after church) on Sunday. Pack a sack lunch, your climbing shoes, and plenty of water. We’ll return 6-7 hours after departure.

Are you a parent interested in driving or tagging along? Join in the poll yourself!

Humor:

Why couldn’t the priest find his rosary?

Because it was Lent.

Why did the baker give up bread for Lent?

They kneaded a break.
