Dear Hoban Families and Students,

You may be aware that several area high schools have announced plans to move to fully remote learning models through the holiday season. We are also mindful that counties in Ohio are beginning to issue stay-at-home orders. Hoban’s plan has been to continue with the present model of hybrid instruction and follow the established holiday break schedule. As of today, that remains our plan.

However, this is a fast-moving situation and we are monitoring conditions at Hoban and always taking into serious consideration guidance from Summit County Public Health. The health and safety of students and employees remain paramount in any decision we make as a school.

Recall that our decision to begin and continue the second quarter in a hybrid model was an intentional one so that students could remain on campus and in class as long and consistently as possible. We will continue to monitor the impact of COVID numbers at Hoban. We know that a significant number of positive cases or quarantines will require Hoban to switch to fully remote for a period of time. We are doing everything in our control to prevent that from happening but are prepared to pivot if circumstances change.

As a reminder, Hoban will be closed on Wednesday, November 25-28 with classes resuming on Monday, November 30.

Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our students and Holy Cross educators healthy through self-identifying when you have been in large groups, not socially distanced, or exposed to someone with a positive COVID test result. Your support is especially crucial over Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks, a time where families and friends typically gather. Please make and encourage decisions that will allow Hoban’s doors to remain open to students through the end of the academic year.

Thank you for your support, prayers and patience. We will keep you informed and up to date on all issues as quickly as we can.

Yours in Christ,
