This subtitle to an article published by the National Business Officers Association (NBOA) in Sept, 2019 discusses why independent schools might consider a merger and how that decision making process differs from a for-profit merger. Invitation to the Dance: Mergers & Acquisitions suggests that a more accurate description of independent school mergers would be 'mergers & collaboration' not acquisition. Considerations about mergers should not solely occur at a time when a school needs to be saved but rather be motivated by and rooted in mission to 'accomplish more and fulfill a higher mission.'
