Janet Abaray Invited as a Panelist to Discuss
the Impact of COVID-19 on the Court System
The RAND Institute for Civil Justice (ICJ) and the Berkeley Law Civil Justice Research Initiative (CJRI) assembled a distinguished group of attorneys, judges, and scholars to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the court system. Janet Abaray and her fellow panelists met for the virtual seminar, called "COVID-19 and the COURTS" on October 1st to discuss topics that included: How the pandemic and social distancing practices affected the state and federal courts’ ability to adequately conduct civil jury trials, and how our adaptations to the crisis affected the amount of time needed to resolve litigated disputes. They also discussed what impact the pandemic could have on federal and state court civil rules, and how different civil litigation will look post-pandemic.

Associate attorney Jessica L. Powell was recently elected to the 2021 Board of Governors of the Kentucky Justice Association (KJA).
