Family Weekend is Here!
We look forward to seeing you virtually this weekend in some, or all, of the various panels and information sessions offered, as we provide a glimpse into the school year thus far. All necessary links and passwords were sent via email yesterday and can also be found in the Resources section of OnBrooks. View the full schedule and description of offerings on the website's Family Weekend page. If you have any questions, please contact Associate Director of Parent and Alumni Programs Nicole Jackson.
Give Rock Band a Listen
Brooks' Advanced Rock Band is, well, rockin'. Check out this mix of Rock Band performing "The Middle." Two online students sent in their recorded tracks, which Music Teacher Mr. Afiune then combined with recordings of students taken during class on campus!

Prize Winners Announced Today . . .
The final set of 2019-2020 school prizes, traditionally announced during graduation in May, were shared in a virtual all-school meeting this morning. "The delay in getting to this moment in no way diminishes all each of today’s prize recipients gave to a speech, a paper, an academic discipline, an entire course of study, and their school community, in general," Head of School John Packard said, prior to presenting the awards. "All of these students, and one faculty member, have enriched our school in 2019-2020 through their hard work, their passion, and by engaging fully in school life. They are continuing to do this in 2020-2021. We are proud of all of them."

Boarding Parents: We'd Love Your Help with Ghostly Goodies
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, we are working on a COVID-19-safe version of Ghostly Goodies, which will allow our boarding students to enjoy some special treats on Halloween weekend. We plan to put together treat bags with individually wrapped store-bought candies and party favors. We will also create three raffle baskets (two for students and one for employees) with treats and gifts cards, and plan to order individually-wrapped cider donuts from Smolak Farms, as well.

If you would like to contribute items to the treat bags and raffle baskets, we have created an Amazon wish list with ideas which will hopefully make your shopping easy. Please place your orders by Oct. 23 and *be sure to choose “Joan Ziady” as the recipient when you are selecting a shipping address. If you do purchase an item, please email Jenn Quinn to let her know, so we can be sure to thank you properly! (For those who have already purchased items, please do the same: We appreciate it and want to keep track of those who took part).
You can also send funds via Venmo; if you’d prefer that option, please contact Joan Ziady for details. Thank you for your support!
College Webinar
Please join a Boston Independent Schools College Counseling Association (BISCCA)-sponsored webinar on Oct. 20: "College Admissions Landscape Update." BISCCA member schools will be joined by panelists from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Dickinson College, the University of Chicago, and Syracuse University to discuss the current trends in college admissions. Please see their brochure for details. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Brooks' College Counseling Office.

Fall Play Update
On Halloween weekend, The Brooks' Theatre will present an original, immersive piece of theater based on the Legend of Sleepy Hollow (See their audition poster, above)! The audience will follow a detective through the last known whereabouts of Ichabod Crane (the fire trail) and into Tarry-Town (boathouse) to solve the mystery of his disappearance and escape the headless horseman. The production has a 45-minute run time and features 24 in-person and three online students.
