 From the CEO

Who would have thought a year ago where we would be in November 2020?
Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I am grateful. Grateful for our clients who supported our business even during the toughest times. Grateful for our communities that came together to help small businesses struggling in the pandemic. And, grateful for my employees and family who made sacrifices to keep TSS fulfilling its safety mission even when they were worried about the future. Thank you.
One of the moments of good fortune we experienced during difficult times was the opportunity to partner with the City of Ketchikan in utilizing CARES Act funding  to develop workplace training on prevention strategies and plans for COVID-19. The goal of making our hometown a safe place to work and live during the pandemic is one we were happy to get behind!
Earlier this month, we were pleased to introduce our new online COVID CLEAN - Taking Care of Business course.

This training is designed to help businesses and communities gain a full understanding of workplace safety issues related to COVID-19 and develop the protocols needed to mitigate the risk of virus transmission.
Building trust is essential to bringing small businesses back even as the pandemic continues. A COVID CLEAN certification from TSS, and our safety specialists, will show your employees, clients and community that you are committed to the highest health and safety standards when it comes to protecting them from the coronavirus.
KETCHIKAN AREA BUSINESS OWNERS take note: As part of our partnership agreement, the City of Ketchikan has made scholarships available for the first 150 people in our community to take the course. This means you are now able to access this training at NO COST! Contact us at [email protected] to get your discount code. Then, register at tss-safety.com.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
 Best regards,
Renee Schofield

Every year, there are more than 17,000 office and store fires, causing about $800 million in direct property damage, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.

The economic effect of a workplace fire can be devastating. But with a good plan and through routine prevention efforts, you can protect your business.

Some basic tips include:
  • Checking for overloaded or damaged electrical cords and cables.
  • Keeping anything flammable away from electrical equipment.
  • Never leaving space heaters unattended.
  • Keeping workspace equipment clean and well-maintained.
Watch this National Safety Council video for more valuable information and guidance on preventing workplace fires and protecting your employees and the bottom line.
Thanksgiving Safety
Thanksgiving is going to look very different in 2020. While our safety specialists typically share information about travel safety during the holidays, this year we'll be talking about avoiding travel to stay safe.

As COVID-19 cases surge throughout the country, public health officials are urging people to stay home this Thanksgiving and only celebrate with members of their household. Experts have found even small gatherings to be responsible for fueling infections. Limiting exposure is an important measure for protecting yourself and others from the virus.

Instead of a feast with loved ones, consider preparing food for family and dropping it off or having a virtual meal together.

However, if you do plan to get together, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is advising caution and recommending some safety strategies.

We offer world-class education and screening services for workplace and community safety.
