The Bulletin For the Week October 15, 2021 • Season 5, Episode 36
This week, we feature Northern California Napa Christian students who are learning on the school farm. And for the fourth time, La Sierra University is ranked #1 in diversity by the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education college guide. Pathfinder Sabbath is tomorrow, October 16, and Hawaii and Northern California Pathfinders are featured in this week’s episode of All God’s People.
Napa Christian school is doing something completely different—like walking a miniature pony, feeding a potbellied pig, shoveling hay for goats, trying to convince a chicken to hold still, or throwing a stick for one of the four school dogs. About five years ago, they started a new program at the private K-12 Seventh-day Adventist school: a school farm! Realizing the trend in education was to move away from the more traditional classroom, the new philosophy was to take the students outside for as much of their learning as possible. The kids can’t wait to get to school!

An annual college guide published Sept. 21 by the Wall Street Journal and Times Higher Education has once again ranked La Sierra University No.1 in the nation for its “Environment.” The ranking marks the fourth time La Sierra University has landed in the top national spot for its diverse environment, a category that rates universities and colleges in areas of racial and ethnic diversity among faculty and students, percentages of international students, and numbers of undergraduates receiving federal Pell Grants.
Tomorrow is Pathfinder Sabbath!
Hawaii Pathfinders had a small trial run camporee at Camp Waianae a few months ago. The Aiea and Kailua Pathfinder clubs were willing to try it out and see if it could be done in a safe manner while meeting local mandates. The new circus tent proved to be a godsend as it provided an outdoor space for eating, worshiping, and teaching Pathfinder honors.

More than 150 Pathfinders and leaders attended the annual Northern California Conference Camporee at Redwood Area Camp earlier this month. Preston Willis, youth pastor at the Oakland Market Street church, served as the event’s speaker. Although fewer in number than typical years, the Pathfinders enthusiastically learned new camping skills, played games, and earned honors.
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid … for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you,” (Deuteronomy 31:6, NKJV).
