Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows

Next week, each homeroom teacher will host a virtual curriculum night to highlight expectations for the year, classroom procedures, and a brief Q&A. Each session will begin at 7:00 PM. Families will receive an email with the Zoom login information for the homeroom later this week. We were fortunate in August to hold a drop-in Open House to give families the opportunity to visit classrooms and meet teachers in person. In order to keep contact at a minimum, the teachers will keep this session virtual.

One of our goals for this year is to expand on our social/emotional curriculum across all grade levels. Ms. Mortimer, Mr. Chun, Ms. Carabio, and Mrs. Holbach have taken on leadership roles in regards to this goal after participating in some intensive training over the summer. One part of this goal is to hire a part-time school social worker. We are still looking to fill this position this year and hope to find a great candidate who will bring some great skills to our school community.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

St. Edward, pray for us!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Sara Lasica
Principal

Illness Protocols

Please review the information below regarding illness protocols.

All individuals must remain at home when sick or experiencing any symptoms to minimize the chance of spreading COVID-19. Families are obligated to report COVID-19 diagnoses, COVID-19 symptoms or close contact cases to the principal.
Students and staff need to isolate or quarantine under the following circumstances:
  • A positive COVID test
  • Potential COVID symptoms without a test or awaiting test results

When you call your student out sick,
  • Report all symptoms student is experiencing to the office.
  • All siblings must remain home as well.
  • If symptoms subside within 24 hours, student and siblings can return to school as long as siblings are not experiencing any symptoms.
  • If symptoms do not subside within 24 hours, the student must go for a COVID test or alternate diagnosis with a doctor. Siblings must remain at home.
  • If COVID test is negative and/or there is an alternative diagnosis, siblings can return to school as long as they are not exhibiting symptoms.
  • Student can return with the negative COVID test and/or alternate diagnosis once he/she is fever free for 24 hours (no fever reducing meds) and symptoms have subsided at least 75%.

If a student or household member receives a positive COVID result, immediately call or email me.

These protocols are in place to protect our entire school community, to keep our students and staff healthy, and to enable us to continue in person learning.
