CALENDAR CHANGE FOR THANKSGIVING WEEK

There is a school calendar change and there will now be no school for students on Monday, November 22nd and Tuesday, November 23rd.

TLC FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY

Last Thursday, in honor of Veterans Day, Mr. Kohler’s Teen Leadership Corps class held a flag retirement ceremony. You can watch the ceremony by clicking here. Thank you to Ken Berlin along with Chris and Jenn Kolar for assisting.

TURKEY DONATION

The Catholic Parishes of Sandusky are now accepting frozen, uncooked turkeys for our Thanksgiving Day Dinner! Please drop off turkeys today through Friday at the Holy Angels parish office. Their office hours are Thursday: 9 AM-4 PM and Friday: 9 AM-1 PM.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT INFORMATION

The Christmas Concert for Kindergarten through grade 12 will be held in The Kinzel Center on Sunday, December 12. Please see the information below for performance times and report times for students.

K-2: Concert Time - 2:00pm Report Time - 1:30pm (Den)

3-5: Concert Time - 3:15pm Report Time - 2:45pm (Main Hall*)

6-12 Choir: Concert Time- 4:30pm Report Time - 3:40pm (Science Building)

6-12 Band: Concert Time- 6:00pm Report Time - 5:10pm (Science Building)

Elementary teachers will be waiting for their students in the Den at their report time. Grades 3-5 will meet in the Main Hall, then escorted to the Den to find their teacher.

*Grades 4 and 5 recorders and band members need to report to the Science Building.

At the conclusion of each performance, parents may find their student, check in with their teacher and they are free to go.

Refreshments will be available in the cafeteria after each concert.

NOVEMBER MARCO’S PIZZA NIGHT

Tonight, is a good night to leave the cooking to Marco's! Let them know you are an SCCS family and Marco's will donate 15% of the sales from the night for phone orders and 20% of the online orders to SCCS. Proceeds from our November Marco's Pizza night will go to the Class of 2022. The classroom, Preschool through 5, that has the most orders will get a pizza party, so be sure to mention your teacher's name when ordering over the phone or click on your teacher’s name when ordering online.

GIRLS BASKETBALL VS ST. PAUL NOW VARSITY ONLY

The Girls Basketball game at St. Paul on November 20th is now varsity only with tip-off at 6pm.

VICTORY SUITE

If you are interested in renting the Victory Suite for wrestling, boys basketball, or girls basketball, contact Mike Lilje at [email protected]. The cost is $100, which includes admission for up to 12 people. Victory suite rental also allows you to bring in your own food and non-alcoholic beverages.

AUCTION COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS

This school year’s spring auction is back to being a live event and will be held in The Kinzel Center on Saturday, April 23rd! Putting together an event like this is a big undertaking and the Auction Committee can always use volunteers for soliciting of items, set up and tear down in the Kinzel Center, help the night of the event, and fresh ideas to keep the auction an exciting draw every year. APPLICATIONS FOR PEBT

If you are not receiving the PEBT benefit but feel you are eligible, please fill out a 2021/2022 application and return it to Shelley Veverka as soon as possible so you can be eligible for November. You can get the form by clicking on this link or from Mrs. Voltz at the reception desk inside the blue awning entrance off of our Decatur St. parking lot. VARSITY BASEBALL COACHING POSITION

Sandusky St. Mary Central Catholic High School is currently accepting applications for the position of Head Varsity Baseball Coach beginning with the 2021-2022 season. Head coaching experience is preferred, but not required. Interested candidates should email a letter of interest and resume to Athletic Director Steve Ruthsatz at [email protected]. The application deadline is Friday, November 26^th, 2021.

ALL SPORT PASSES

All Sports Passes are available for $100 and can be purchased at the main entrance on Decatur St. from 8:30am until 2:00pm on school days. All Sports Passes permit you admission to all SMCC home sporting events.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS NEEDED - NEW TEMPORARY LICENSE AVAILABLE

Due to the shortage of substitute teachers during the pandemic, the state of Ohio has established a new, temporary substitute license. You do not need a bachelor's degree to qualify, only a high school diploma. The license expires on June 30, 2022 and is non-renewable.

If you would like to join our Panther substitute team this year, please email a letter of interest with your education and employment history to Lois Walsh at [email protected]. We will then be in touch to explain the process of obtaining this temporary license.

BATTLE FOR BOXES

SCCS 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th grades are joining forces with Victory Kitchen for their annual Battle for Boxes to help provide Christmas gifts for area kids in need. For more information on how to participate, click here. The deadline for boxes is Friday, December 10^th.

THANKSGIVING MEAL DONATION WITH VICTORY KITCHEN

Each year our students participate in a food drive to create Thanksgiving baskets for those in need in our community. This year we are partnering with Victory Kitchen, who will be providing the turkeys and will help to distribute our Thanksgiving baskets. CHANGE WARS FOR ERIE COUNTY CHILDREN SERVICES

Each year the Elementary (PK-5) participates in a classroom change war to raise money to sponsor Christmas for children connected with Erie County Children Services. The change war will run from Monday, November 29 through Friday, December 3. The classroom who collects the most money will win a Christmas movie and popcorn party the last week before Christmas break. Please only coins and no bills.

MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL NEWS

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SCHOLARSHIP FOR SCCS STUDENTS

The Knights of Columbus Ohio Charity Foundation, Inc. is offering their annual scholarship to students in grades 9-12. If awarded a scholarship, the money will be applied to their SCCS tuition for the 2021-2022 school year. To qualify, students must be a 9-12 grade student, practicing Catholic, have at least a 2.5 GPA, and have a financial need. Click here for an application.
