VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR UNPACKING DELIVERY ITEMS

Are you willing to volunteer a few hours of your time on Friday, May 20We are looking for 2 to 4 parents to unpack items from a delivery and place them on the counters and in the refrigerators of the teachers' lounge. CALLING CAKE DECORATORS!

Do you know how to decorate cakes with buttercream frosting? We need you! The Food Glorious Food Focus Week will provide students the opportunity to learn the art of cake decorating. We are looking for parent volunteers to lead the class or offer a helping hand. The class will run 2–2.5 hours from Monday, May 23 to Friday, May 27. SCHOOL NEWS
VIRTUAL MIDDLE SCHOOL NAVIANCE PARENT NIGHT

THIS Tuesday, April 5, 6:30 PM

Middle School Families, join us in learning about Naviance, a program funded by Bellevue Schools Foundation. Starting in 6th grade, students use Naviance to explore interests, careers, and colleges. Learn about it now so you’re familiar with it as your student progresses through middle and high school. For questions, email Arty Christianto, Middle School Counselor.
THE END TO A FANTASTIC VOLLEYBALL SEASON

A big thank you to Stephen Miller, IS Social Studies Teacher, for coaching volleyball after school for our middle school students. Their season was from February 8 to March 31. There were four IS teams that played against Odle, Tillicum, and Tyee. For many of these students, this was their first time learning and playing volleyball. The kids loved it! We are grateful for a community of caring teachers and parents that provided this great opportunity.

EARTH MONTH ARTWORK

BSD Communications would like to invite students and staff to share their original visual artwork to be featured on the bsd405.org homepage banner each month. Where needed, we may need to crop the original and provide a link to the entirety of the work. For the month of April, we are looking for students and staff to share their imagery centered around Earth Month. Students and staff may submit their artwork or questions to Gargi Trichel, Communication Engagement Specialist.
DRIVE-THRU DIAGNOSTIC PCR TESTING AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS

BSD offers drive-thru diagnostic PCR testing for students who show symptoms of COVID-19. Testing is available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Wilburton Instructional Services Center (WISC). Tests are available by appointment only, as there are limited slots each day.

SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH UPDATE

On October 28, 2021, the Bellevue School District Board of Directors voted to offer an additional one-year contract to Interim Superintendent, Dr. Art Jarvis for the 2022-23 school year. Jarvis was appointed as BSD’s interim superintendent in May 2021. A Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking executive candidate search services by the BSD Board of Directors was published on March 23. More information about the search process is forthcoming, including a timeline and specific ways our BSD community will be involved in selecting BSD’s future superintendent. For questions, email BSD.

CONGRATULATIONS, TITAN ROBOTICS!

This week is National Robotics Week (April 2–10)!

Since 2001, Titan Robotics Club (TRC) has continued to inspire, teach, and empower students through STEM. A part of FIRST, TRC allows students from 6th to 12th-grade to take part in building robots for competitions while learning new skills.

TRC Achievements 20212022:
  • FRC: Recently, we became finalists at the PNW Sammamish event and qualified for District Championships!
  • FTC: won the Design Award, Semi-Finalists at Interleague
  • FLL: One team won the Core Award

BELLEVUE PTSA COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year, Bellevue PTSA Council offers twelve $1000-scholarships to seniors representing each high school in BSD:
  • The Alice Hurd Memorial Scholarship recognizes outstanding community service and rewards one student from each high school with a $1000 scholarship.
  • The Bellevue PTSA Council Scholarship rewards the academic excellence of one graduating senior from each high school.
