Hello!
In honor of Veteran's Day, we would like to thank all of those who have served and are currently serving our country in the United States Armed Forces. Special shout out to the Jewish War Veterans organization for the important work they do.
We would also like to acknowledge the loss of Rabbi Jonathan Lord Sacks, (z'l), the internationally renowned philosopher, leading voice in inter-religious dialogue, and the former Chief Rabbi of the United Kingdom. May his memory be for a blessing.
On a different note, we invite you to join us next Tuesday, November 17th at 7pm for the second session of the Council's Israel Connection series. The program will review the US elections impact on Israel with Yuna Leibzon, a US Correspondent at Channel 12 News Israel who will lead the discussion. More details can be found below about this program.
By the way, Council Roundtables are now in full swing. Thank you to all those that took part in learning, sharing and networking sessions. By the way, within, find information about the Night of Music, Diversity Breakfast, Judaica Crafts Show and more...
As tomorrow is World Kindness Day, we wish you a weekend and Shabbat filled with kindness and good health--and note that the new joyous month of Kislev, begins on Tuesday. (Think Hanukah).
Shabbat Shalom

The Legacy of: Women Cantors of the 20s and 30s
Tuesday, November 17, 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
The first woman cantor was ordained in 1975, but the first women to professionally sing the traditional synagogue liturgy publicly took place more than a half-century before. Denied a pulpit, pioneering women khazntes — Madame Sophie Kurtzer, Freydele Oysher, Sheindele di Khaznte, Goldye May Steiner and Bryna Zuckerberg — created through radio, theater and commercial recordings, a consciousness in the Jewish world about women as the Sheliakh Tzibur/ Messenger of the People, a reality abundantly present today. Join us to hear rare period recordings of these women cantors and learn more about their lasting importance and enduring artistic accomplishments. Led by Henry Sapoznik, Peabody Award-winner, performer and impresario
Lasting Impressions: DOROT’s Legacy Project is generously supported by a grant from the Keller-Shatanoff Foundation
