- Legally, what has changed, not changed, and what should employers expect going into the new year?

FATCA and CRS are not just a one-off exercise
|
|
JOIN US FOR A LIVE WEBINAR
|
|
Whilst FATCA and CRS legislation has been in existence in most jurisdictions for the past four years or more, it remains as important now as it did when it was first introduced. Entities need to ensure they have remained compliant with the legislation, kept up to date with any local legislation changes and can demonstrate that they have the necessary processes and controls in place to ensure their ongoing compliance.
In the last couple of years, we have seen regulators stepping up their efforts in terms of onsite audits and requests for information, to ensure that organizations are in full compliance with the legislation and that everything that needs to be done to ensure tax transparency is being abided with.
In this webinar, our experts will cover:
- How we got here – The background and objectives of FATCA & CRS
- Why this is still important – FATCA & CRS are not a one-off exercise
- The requirements – Classification, registration & officer roles, governance framework, policies & processes, data & documentation, ongoing reporting, and other considerations
- Case studies – ‘The need for a review’ and ‘Control breakdown’
- How to ease the burden

China’s new Personal Information Protection Law:
How to prepare
|
|
PRESS RELEASE
October 12, 2021
China passed a comprehensive new data privacy law that takes effect 1 November. Companies operating in China and those serving China-based customers must comply with the tough new requirements or risk significant fines and penalties.
China’s National People’s Congress passed the legislation — known as the Personal Information Protection Law, or the PIPL — in August. The law’s passage follows two rounds of draft publication and solicitation of public opinions.
The PIPL is similar to the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in that it establishes rules for collecting, storing, handling and transferring personal data. There are also rules related to obtaining individuals’ consent. In addition, Reuters reports, the PIPL “states that handling of personal information must have clear and reasonable purpose and shall be limited to the ‘minimum scope necessary to achieve the goals of handling’ data.”
