Special Olympics Wyoming (SOWY) Board Member Interest Form
Special Olympics Wyoming is currently seeking individuals from throughout the State who may be interested in serving on the Board of Directors.
The mission of Special Olympics Wyoming is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
The Board of Directors is scheduled to meet four (4) times each year (TBD combination of in-person, in Casper and virtual), with additional subcommittee and/or Board meetings as needed. Board members serve for three year renewable terms (up to 9 years). Board members are volunteers and are not paid. Ideally, Board members are motivated to serve because they have an interest in supporting the mission of Special Olympics with a focus on ensuring the overall health and sustainability of SOWY, and delivering quality programming for its athletes and stakeholders.
All SOWY Board members must, amongst other agreements, consent to undergo a criminal background check prior to service on the Board of Directors. Any potential applicants unwilling to comply with the requirement need not apply.
The following application must be completed to be considered on the SOWY Board of Directors and the information provided will be shared with various entities within the organization to ensure the best match to fill existing vacancies. This is the first step in the application process. Everyone who who applies will be contacted.
Thank you for your interest.
