Spotlight on Aging and Caregiving
A recent Boston Globe article highlighted the strain of trying to juggle professional and caregiving responsibilities. Before the pandemic, more than 600,000 employees around the state were estimated to be caring for loved ones, out of 844,000 total unpaid family caregivers. More than two years into the pandemic, the number of all informal caregivers statewide is likely closer to 1 million. Six in ten caregivers report working while caregiving (61%) and the majority have experienced at least one work-related impact (61%). MeHI is partnering with a number of organizations to address these issues and more. Learn more about the great work MeHI is doing to both support caregivers and foster innovations in the realm of Aging and Caregiving.

  • The Mass Caregiving Initiative at MassTech recently hosted an Innovations in Caregiving webinar that featured finalists from the first round of our COVID-19 Recovery Challenge. They spoke about their innovative digital health solutions that are supporting caregivers as they face new challenges in caring for loved ones. • The Massachusetts Caregiver Coalition, of which MeHI is a founding member, recently updated its mission statement and reaffirmed its commitment to recognizing, supporting, and building creative solutions that allow family caregivers to continue to thrive in the workplace while also caring for family at home.
