Well friends, I went down a rabbit hole of visualizing frequencies and sounds. I felt them in my body as well as seeing them in a ton of youtube videos. I am so drawn to this idea of being in-tune with the world and how to take actions that help me have more of those moments where I feel "So Maia". I am inspired by Tim asking the brave question, is this working anymore?, and hearing how it turned out for him. I still am afraid to ask it too pointedly at myself, personally, but the butterflies resonating in my stomach tell me that maybe I should take the leap of faith and go for it. Where ever you are at, be here and be humble. That is a huge gift to the Fabric we are woven into. Peace and Love, Maia

Choose the tools that fit you and your group best. Make sure to build in time for the closing practice.
Get Started
-
Read through the Brave Space poem to set the tone for your group.
-
Check in with a sound effect: Visit this out of character website and find an animal sound that is summing up how you are doing. Add a word, a sentence, a story, or just keep your crew guessing :) You'll need to share the webpage with others so they can share theirs too!

Resonate
You can visualize sound, watch what various pitches look like here
- The video is 3 minutes and a little dramatic at moments, choose to watch as much as you want
- What is shown in this video is various frequencies that create images, what isn't shown is the many other times when the sand looks more like a mess.
- share a story of when you felt like you hit one of these frequencies in your life, or maybe a messy moment when you were far from it. Tim Kennedy described being in-tune in our Fabric Zoom as when a decision felt so right that it was easy to make.
Vegal or Soul nerve
Resmaa Menakem describes the soul nerve on page 139 of his book My Grandmother's Hands:
When your body feels relaxed, open, settled, and in sync with other bodies, that’s your soul nerve functioning. When it feels energized, vibrant, and full of life, that’s also your soul nerve. When it feels tight, constricted, and self-protective, that’s your soul nerve, too. And whenever you have a fight, flee or freeze response, that involves your soul nerve as well. In fact, one of the main purposes of your soul nerve is to receive fight, flee, or freeze messages from your lizard brain and spread them to the rest of your body. Another purpose is precisely the opposite: to receive and spread the message of it’s okay; you’re safe right now; you can relax.
-
If you are feeling curious, try a body and breathe practice here.
- add this practice to your toolbox when you feel out of wack with the universe
- If you aren't ready for practice, discuss when you have felt "in-tune" with God/Life/Truth, how have you felt in your body?
So... Is this working anymore??
Read through the poem The Place Where We are Right by Yehuda Amichai or share it on your screen. Take time to journal about it with the SOAP method. Share as you wish afterwords and see how it fits in with our overarching question, is this working anymore?
-
Select: find a word, sentence, or section that speaks to you and write it down
-
Observe: take time to examine and be curious about what you selected
-
Apply: How is this speaking or relevant to your life
-
Prayer: communicate from your heart to that surpasses all understanding a help, thanks, or a wow that relates to your journaling.

Closing
- Check back often to stay in tune- take a minute to put 3 reminders in your calendar over the next week to ask the question, where was I in tune today? or was I in tune today?

Please check in this week here
Our communication cards and Sunday conversations have been a critical way for us to be a present, dynamic, responsive community. We miss that! Please share your needs, prayers, capacity or questions via the Virtual Communication Card this week sometime. Encourage your group to do the same. If you gather virtually as a group, take 5 minutes for everyone to do one.
Thank you!
