2022 Legislative Session Ends
This was written at end of the session.
The Minnesota Legislature adjourned sine die at midnight on May 22, 2022, without passing a tax bill or spending bills. Negotiations over public safety, education, health care, housing, and other major issues weren’t resolved when the midnight deadline struck. The Republican-controlled Senate then ended the regular session, while the House will return Monday for a ceremonial last day. The GOP-led Senate and DFL-controlled House reached Sunday's midnight deadline without passing numerous sweeping policy packages, including a previously agreed upon $4 billion tax deal and proposals for education and public safety.
Gov. Tim Walz said he would meet early Monday with leaders from the Minnesota House and Senate to discuss calling a special session to finish major legislative proposals left undone after the Legislature again missed the deadline for doing its work.
More details on the 2022 session can be found here.
