From The Desk of Mr. Johnston
Dear St. Alphonsus Families,

What a busy week we've had here at school! Between May Crowning, Pioneer Day, and our Middle School and Early Childhood Showcases, we are bustling right along to the end of the school year.

Thank you to all those who attended our showcases. if you missed your opportunity to attend either one this week, I'd like to share a recap. Our Middle School Showcase was held on Tuesday and started with presentations in the Community Room.

Mr. Strangfeld spoke about teaching Literature and English Language Arts next year. He is thrilled to be able to teach both, something he has wanted to do for many years because it allows the classes to function very strong academically, essentially as high school English classes.

Ms. Armstrong is very excited to use her STEM major along with her Social Studies minor as she teaches both Science and Social Studies next year. She's especially looking forward to the revamped science lab and bringing lots of hands-on learning experiences to students in both curriculums.

Mr. Kneifl will be our 6-8 Math & Religion teacher and Math is also his specialty. He is thrilled to be joining the middle school team and will continue our strong program of high school prep. He will also be working with Mr. Johnston who is a former High School math teacher himself, to ensure that our curriculum continues its vigorous reputation.

Mrs. Bruhn will continue providing math & reading support for our K-8 students! This includes specialized reading instruction, general math support, individual and small group instruction, Individualized Education Plans for qualifying students, testing accommodations, and speech services through Greendale School District.

We also had two of our St. Alphonsus alums, Rachel Y. and Caroline Z., share some of the many ways that our school has prepared them for high school and college success.

If you missed this showcase, you can view our Fast Facts flyer here which has more great information about our Middle School.

We also had our Early Childhood Showcase this week. This was a chance to have a light dinner and have students entering 3K, 4K, and 5K next year do an activity in their classrooms while their parents heard presentations from Mrs. Collins, Mrs. Kempken, and Ms. Maccoux. It was a wonderful evening for community building and welcoming some new students & families into our school! You can see more pictures of our Early Childhood Showcase below, and here is our Fast Facts flyer.

Also in this newsletter are pictures of May Crowning & Pioneer Day, so be sure to check those out below.

Have a great weekend and stay safe!

Our Kindergarten, First, and Second grades led us in a short prayer service before Wednesday's all-school Mass.

It was a beautiful day!
Pioneer Day
Pioneer Day also happened today! Our 4th grade students came dressed in their Pioneer best and had a full day of school & activities just like pioneer children would. They worked on memorization, copying Bible passages in cursive, playing games, and even made butter!

Adopt a Cow Live Chat Replay
Have you "herd?" This year, the library adopted a cow and the "live chat" to meet Cookie Dough was this week!

Unfortunately, the chat took place outside of library time, so here is the replay so students & families can watch at their leisure.

The kids have loved getting to know and learn about Cookie Dough next year and we are excited to adopt another cow next year!

You are never too young to have an estate plan in place! But, how do you do that? What options are available to you? Join Stephanie Mares, parish member and attorney, as she explains Wills, Trusts and other important strategies and documents such as Power of Attorney and Power of Health Care.
