Let's Connect
Thursday, August 27th (8-9 AM)
Who wants to talk about their business? Who wants more leads? Check out our networking event that gives you a chance to show off your company with your one minute verbal commercial while enjoying a light breakfast and learning about other local businesses. Be sure to bring brochures to display and business cards to share!

Update: We will skip the face to face networking portion of this event from 7:30-8:00. We will still all take turns to talk about your business from 8:00-9:00. Masks will be required unless you are eating or drinking something or taking your turn talking.

Thank you to the AmericInn for sponsoring this event!

The Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce will hold the State of Ag event on Tuesday, August 25th under the Hoop Barn at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. More than ever, it will be important to hold this event to gain awareness in the agriculture community.

Business Roundtable with Karen Pence
Back in March, Brad Gruhot had an opportunity to be in the company of the 2nd lady, Karen Pence and other leaders throughout Minnesota to talk about issues that matter to businesses in Southwestern Minnesota.
Balaton, Minnesota is home to the pilot project but the Madison Bay Harbor Complex will be the first commercial scale harbor and one of many they’re planning around the country. Ziebell says it will have a substantial economic impact in South Dakota.

The U.S. consumes 1.6 billion pounds of shrimp annually and 94-percent of it is imported, so he says there is great opportunity for growth. Shrimp are fed a 40-percent soy-based diet which makes them more sustainable, and so does the revolutionary technology used to grow them.

truShrimp already has several major supermarket chains interested in the shrimp and the chitin co-product will be used in the medical field. They hope to wrap up financing in 2020 and start building in 2021.
For Immediate Release:

On Saturday, August 15 at approximately 10:30 A.M., a Cessna 182 plane will fly in to the Marshall Airport to pick up an 80 ft. banner, which was produced for Lyon County’s 150th anniversary. The pilot, David McCandless, of Council Bluffs, Iowa will fly the banner across Lyon County, which will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. The company has been pulling banners since 1948.

Lyon County and the Lyon County Historical Society will work with the schools in Lyon County to have students and faculty sign the 150th anniversary banner over the course of the upcoming school year. The banner will be displayed at the 2021 Lyon County Fair. After the fair, the banner will be preserved at the Lyon County Museum in Marshall.

Due to COVID-19, Lyon County plans to continue the celebration of the anniversary next year at all the town celebrations and the Lyon County Fair. 150th anniversary t-shirts are available for sale along with a pictorial history book titled, Lyon County Images. T-shirts and books can be purchased at the Lyon County Museum, 301 W Lyon St, Marshall and online at www.lyoncomuseum.org

For more information, contact Loren Stomberg, Lyon County Administrator at 507-537-6980 or Jennifer Andries, Lyon County Historical Society Executive Director at 507-537-6580.
