Take & Make | Piñata Family Craft Kits

In celebration of the National Hispanic Heritage Month, The Santa Ana Public Library will be offering a Family Take It and Make It Piñata Craft Kit

No registration is required. Kits will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Monday, October 5th – Friday, October 9th during the library’s curbside pickup hours at both Main and Newhope Library.

Cover to Cover Fall Reading Program
October 5 - November 13

In-N-Out Burger "Cover to Cover ClubReading Program for children ages 4 to 12. To participate, children need to pick up a reading log from the Libraries. For every 5 books read or have read to them, children will earn a food certificate for a free hamburger or cheeseburger at any In-N-Out Burger.

Children can earn a maximum of 3 food certificates for reading a maximum of 15 books.
No registration needed. Last day for a patron to pick up a reading log will be November 13th. Last day to claim a prize is November 20th.

Scary Stories Documentary Watch Party

This week (September 27-October 3, 2020), The Santa Ana Public Library, is celebrating Banned Books Week along with countless other libraries across the nation. Aligning with TeenTober, YALSA’s month-long celebration of teens and teen library services, TeenSpace is hosting a “Scary Stories” documentary watch party this Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at 3:00pm, during Chill Zone, SAPL’s online teen advisory group.
 
Scary Stories” is a full-length documentary about the banned book series that includes the 1981 anthology Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and its two sequels by Alvin Schwartz. Approximately 40 interviews were conducted, from family members of the author, fellow children's book horror authors, and folklorists, to librarians, artists, and fans.

For this special opportunity, enrolled SAPL volunteers in attendance may earn up to two hours of community service! After watching the documentary, we invite tween/teen viewers to take our online quiz and enter an opportunity drawing to win a $20.00 Amazon gift card! Take it & Make it Spooktacular Halloween Craft Kits | October 12 - October 23

Between pumpkin patch visits and trick-or-treating, it’s fun to spend a little at-home time crafting holiday decorations. These Halloween craft kits are fun for kids of all ages. Kids can create unique craft projects while expressing their creativity and developing problem-solving skills. Open to all youth.

No registration needed. Kits will be distributed on a first-come first-served basis during curbside pickup hours, Monday through Friday, from 10 am to 5 pm at both Main Library and Newhope Library.

Take it & Make it | Wine Cork Pumpkin Craft Registration begins Oct 7, 2020

Join us for a fun craft as we turn wine corks into adorable pumpkins!!! They are easy and the perfect decoration to get your house ready for Fall. So let’s get in gear for the season and reserve your Take and Make Wine Cork Pumpkin Kit from the Library!!!

Due to a limited number of craft kits, registration is required. Please call Information desk, (714) 647-5250 (Main Library) or (714) 647-6992 (Newhope Library) to reserve your Take and Make Craft beginning Oct 7! 

SUPER HERO BINGO | LIVE via ZOOM

Santa Ana Youth are invited to join us for Super Hero Bingo Live on ZOOM on Oct 30, 2020 at 3:45 PM. Through curbside pickup, each child will receive a Super Hero Bingo card with instructions and information to join our ZOOM live session on Oct 30!

No registration needed. Cards will be distributed on a first-come first-served basis during curbside pickup hours, Monday through Friday, from 10 am to 5 pm at both Main Library and Newhope Library.

Safe, Filtered Internet for Santa Ana Youth!

Beginning September, Santa Ana youth can borrow safe, filtered Wi-Fi hotspots from both Main and Newhope Libraries for three weeks!
The Library is now offering online tutoring services for K-12th grade students. Tutoring will be provided through ZOOM and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is required to receive further instructions to participate in online tutoring. Join us!
