NYC RESTAURANT WEEK
It's Back
Casa Lever, NYC Restaurant Week (Indoor Dining)
After a year and a half hiatus, NYC Restaurant Week is back and in full swing with a varied program and inclusive pricing to encourage participation from diverse venues in all five boroughs. The program continues through Sunday, August 22nd. It is one of those New York experiences that both locals and visitors adore.

Nearly 530 restaurants are participating this season and they are offering specials for both in-restaurant dining and take out. One of those participants is 555 Madison Avenue’s own Proper Food.
For NYC Restaurant Week, Proper Food is featuring their favorite trio: Seared Lemon Pepper Tuna Salad, a chocolate chip cookie and your choice of drink for $21.

They start with line-caught, sushi-grade ahi tuna, season with lemon pepper and then sear to just-pink perfection. The basmati rice is infused with fresh saffron and cooked in their scratch-made vegetable stock - braised for 24 hours to seal in the flavors. Adding beluga lentils, kale, and ripe Roma tomatoes, they finish the dish with slow-roasted almonds and a house-made sherry vinaigrette.

You can find out more information about NYC Restaurant Week and offers at local venues like Casa Lever in Time Out magazine’s guide (here). For more information visit: nycgo.com/restaurantweek.
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Joseph Keane
Joe Keane
Joe Keane has worked at 555 Madison Avenue for more than thirty-one years. He started off as an assistant and worked his way up to mechanic and is now one of the building’s in-house engineers.

“Before I came to 555, I worked at 101 Park Avenue for two years. It was a big building, different than here. I like working here because it’s like family. The Coates are a nice family to work for and we have a small crew,” explains Keane.

While the crew of four may be small, they are certainly capable and handle more tasks in-house than most other buildings. “We do everything we can in-house. We contract out less than other buildings. We do everything from maintenance on pumps and motors and the air conditioning to managing tenant calls related to issues with a sink or a door. Whatever needs to be done, we do.”

When Joe isn’t with his work family at 555, he likes spending time with his actual family – his wife, his two sons and recent addition, Ivy. Ivy is a white shepherd that Joe rescued about a year and a half ago.

“She is pure joy. My entire family loves animals. Both my boys work with animals.” One works in a pet shop and the other handles a bomb sniffing dog in New York City. Joe is also an avid gardener and draws. When his kids were younger, he’d make them comics. He latest piece was a drawing of a lighthouse for his wife.

Aleisa Sulaman

I know there’s been a lot of restaurant turnover during COVID. Now that things are getting back to normal, I am anticipating taking clients out to lunch again in September. Can you recommend any close venues that would be appropriate for hosting high-end clients for a sit-down lunch?

Sincerely,
Hungry for the Right Spot

Dear Hungry for the Right Spot,

San Pietro is always a good call. Located at 18 East 54th Street, San Pietro is known as a midtown power lunch spot. It is currently serving lunch both indoors and outdoors and its menu includes soups, salads, pasta, risotto, meat and fish dishes. The Ravioli San Pietro (ravioli filled with buffalo mozzarella and porcini mushrooms) is a must try.

Sincerely,
Aleisa
