Communion Statement
The Lord's Supper is celebrated here in the confession and glad confidence that our Lord, as He says, gives not only bread and wine, but His very body and blood to eat and drink for the forgiveness of sin. In joyful obedience to the clear teaching of our Lord Jesus those are invited to His table who trust His words, repent of all sin, and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us. They show forth His death until He comes. Because Holy Communion is a confession of the faith which is confessed at this altar, any who are not yet instructed, in doubt, or who hold a confession differing from that of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and so are unable to receive the Sacrament are invited to meditate on God's Word in the distribution hymns and pray for the day when divisions will have ceased.

Ladies Aid Christmas Party - Postponed
Ladies Aid Board and Christmas Program committee have decided to postpone our December 7th Christmas Party. We are concerned about the health and safety of our members. If you have your secret pal gift, just keep it. We may try to have something next year. We will keep you notified in the bulletin and Facebook page. Please stay safe and healthy.

Children's Christmas Service Premiere
This year's children's Christmas service (originally scheduled for Wednesday, December 16) will look a bit different. Instead of having an in-person large gathering, St. Paul plans to premiere a video recording of the service. Children will be practicing their parts within each classroom. In a couple weeks, each classroom will record their portion in church. Pastor Matyas and Mr. Schultz have graciously volunteered to use their tech skills to turn this into a masterful video presentation to be released online. We will still have Advent worship services on Wednesdays at 3:15 & 6:30 p.m. during December, but there is no in-person Children's Christmas service this year.

Gift Cards Available
Get started on your Christmas shopping and participate in our Scrip fundraiser by purchasing gift cards from us! Please contact the school office to see what cards are in stock and to arrange payment (cash or check) and pick up. Deadline for special requests (e.g. large quantities) is Friday, December 11 to ensure orders arrive before Christmas. Click here for an order form.

Advent Devotions
You are invited to pick up a blue Advent devotion booklet, entitled “God with Us,” in the back of church for your daily study of Scripture. Regular and large-print copies are available for you to begin reading on Sunday, November 29. Thank you to Lutheran Hour Ministries for making this resource available for us. You can share these devotions as a printed copy or through the LHM website: lhm.org/advent where others can read and listen to these messages of hope and joy.

Please Help!
Our Video Display Team desires to add more members to help build playlists and/or operate screens for our worship services. Training is available. We would like to have enough members so that each member serves for one Sunday per month. Anyone interested should call Don Krueger (895-5737).

Stewardship - A Way of Life
1 Corinthians 1:9 – “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” The faithfulness of God is our great comfort. He has made promises to us, and He will keep them. He is kind and loving toward us, and He will not break faith with us. This gives us the confidence to step out in faith, to leave fear behind. When it comes to following the Lord’s commandments for our daily lives, we know His will is best for us because our God is faithful. STEWARDSHIP – a way of life

St. Paul Hot Lunch
Thank you to all who have continued to support the Hot Lunch program. It certainly has been a help as we face an interesting year!! All meals are served in takeout containers this year which has been an unexpected added expense to the program. Due to COVID we no longer are doing the Adopt a Salad Bar program but we do have needs for gift cards or cash donations to help offset the cost of these additional items that we need to purchase. Walmart, Sam’s, Meijer gift cards or cash donations would be greatly appreciated. They can be labeled Hot Lunch and put in the offering basket at church, sent to school with a student or put in the specially marked box (formerly construction worker snack collection) in the back of church. If you have any questions please call Heidi at school 684-4450. Thank you again for your ongoing support of this ministry!!

Old Testament Reading
Isaiah 64:1–9
1Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down,
that the mountains might quake at your presence—
2 as when fire kindles brushwood
and the fire causes water to boil—
to make your name known to your adversaries,
and that the nations might tremble at your presence!
3When you did awesome things that we did not look for,
you came down, the mountains quaked at your presence.
4From of old no one has heard
or perceived by the ear,
no eye has seen a God besides you,
who acts for those who wait for him.
5You meet him who joyfully works righteousness,
those who remember you in your ways.
Behold, you were angry, and we sinned;
in our sins we have been a long time, and shall we be saved?
6We have all become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.
We all fade like a leaf,
and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
7There is no one who calls upon your name,
who rouses himself to take hold of you;
for you have hidden your face from us,
and have made us melt in the hand of our iniquities.
8But now, O LORD, you are our Father;
we are the clay, and you are our potter;
we are all the work of your hand.
9Be not so terribly angry, O LORD,
and remember not iniquity forever.
Behold, please look, we are all your people.

Epistle
1 Corinthians 1:3–9
3Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, 5that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge—6even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you—7so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Holy Gospel
Mark 13:24–37
24[Jesus said:] “In those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, 25and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. 26And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven.
28“From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. 29So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates. 30Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 31Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
32“But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. 34It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. 35Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the cock crows, or in the morning— 36lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. 37And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.”
