Who's ready for events season?
Despite the recent snow, spring is upon us, which means Keep Tahoe Blue events are coming in hot.

Check out our events listings and start blocking off time on your calendar to join a volunteer program, attend a beach cleanup, or help out with a hands-on restoration event.

We look forward to seeing you at the Lake.
Citizen science takes center stage in our volunteer opportunities. A recent story shows how citizen scientists (like you!) can prevent Tahoe from being loved to death. Check out the article.

What lies beneath the surface
As Tahoe conservationists, one of our toughest tasks is convincing people that the Lake's health is at risk. Its stunning natural beauty doesn’t exactly help us prove the point. But by the time we can see the impacts, it may be too late.

Just beneath the surface of Tahoe’s shimmering blue waters, it’s easy to find evidence of pollution harming the Lake. A recent article from Adventure.com dives into the underwater trash problem, including how the League’s advocacy is helping prevent construction trash from being dumped in the Lake.

Tahoe Keys Control Methods Test (CMT) ramping up
For the past decade, the League has engaged, innovated and advocated for solutions to the invasive species infestation in the Tahoe Keys - the largest at Tahoe. To prevent the infestation from spreading and protect water quality for the whole Lake, the fight against invasive weeds must be focused here.

Following unanimous approval of the Control Methods Test in January, the effort is kicking into high gear with the start of testing this month. Click here for the latest news and updates.
Parts of the Tahoe Keys are closed to ensure the test results are valid. The closures may last as late as mid July.
🔹No boating access in areas A (red), B (green), and C (yellow).

🔹No water activities in areas A, B, and C - that includes swimming, pets, boats, kayaks, canoes, etc. The water is safe, but staying out of it is critical to ensure as much as possible is learned from the test.

🔹Help neighbors and visitors abide by these rules. A friendly reminder will do everyone a big favor in the long run.

Tahoe South Event Center update
If you have driven through Stateline, NV recently you will have noticed a large construction project taking shape. The Tahoe South Event Center is scheduled to open in 2023. The League’s policy experts were heavily involved in the project’s planning stages to prevent unwanted impacts, such as more traffic, increased parking strain and pollution.
Through our advocacy, the Event Center is providing significant funding for free, on-demand microtransit service to the south shore, similar to TART Connect on the north shore.

The app-based shuttles will hit the streets this summer. Stay tuned for updates.
