Village Approves
Fiscal Year Budget
The Fiscal Year 2022-23 budget was approved at the April 12 Village Board meeting. This annual budget covers the period of May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2023. The budget is balanced, with the General Fund revenues projected to exceed expenditures and spending to be at one of the lowest levels in four years. A copy of the budget can be viewed here.

On Traffic Calming
At the April 26 regular Village Board meeting, discussions will continue regarding potential traffic calming solutions in the area of Checker and Schaeffer Roads. A summary of the options presented in the April 12 public hearing can be viewed here. Information on how to submit questions or comments prior to the meeting is provided at this link. Comments will be accepted until 6:30 p.m. on April 26.
Recognition Award for Lynn Michaelson-Cohn
At the April 12 Village Board meeting, President Bill Jacob and the Board of Trustees recognized Long Grove resident Lynn Michaelson-Cohn for 25 years of dedicated service on the Architectural Commission, 12 years of which as commission chair. A resolution read and remarks made by President Bill Jacob, on behalf of the Village and its residents, spoke to Lynn's significant contributions to the betterment of Long Grove and her efforts in maintaining the Village's unique character. Lynn was further thanked with a presentation of a replica of a Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass window.
EDC Seeks Additional Members
The Economic Development Commission (EDC) is seeking residents who are interested in volunteering to serve on the commission. Ideal backgrounds for new members include those who own or manage a business, as well as individuals who have a background with economic development initiatives and programs. The EDC meets monthly to ensure that the Village can attract new businesses and economic development opportunities, and to promote business retention, growth and success. Downtown Project Planned
The Lake County Public Works Department is installing a new sanitary sewer force main from Three Lakes Drive to the Archer Parking Lot, starting Tuesday, May 31 (weather permitting) with the underground pipe installations. The project is expected to be completed by the end of July. No road closures or detours are planned; however, there may be times when the roadways are limited to one lane, and traffic will be allowed to pass through under the direction of flaggers. The Village is working with Lake County to minimize impacts of the project on the Village's festivals. Click here for more information about the project.
Nature Center Walk May 3
Learn about native wildflowers while enjoying the beauty of one of Illinois’ natural local treasures. Come to the Spring Wildflower Walk at the Reed-Turner Woodland Nature Center on Tuesday, May 3, from 1 - 2 p.m., where the diverse habitat presents a wide variety of seasonal blooms viewable from the trails. This is a moderate hike that includes up and down trails and steps. This event is free, but space is limited and pre-registration is required. Neighborhood Beautification This Weekend!
Take part in Long Grove's yearly Neighborhood Cleanup this coming weekend, April 23 - 24. Any trash picked up by residents around the community can be left at roadsides in garbage bags, which will be collected by Waste Management during the week of April 25. The annual cleanup effort follows Earth Day, Friday, April 22, which is a global event raising awareness about preserving and protecting our environment. Downtown Craft Beer Fest
Downtown Long Grove will host a Craft Beer Fest in the Stempel Parking Lot in front of Buffalo Creek Brewing on Saturday, April 30 from 12 - 4 p.m.; the event is for adults ages 21 and up. Attendees can experience the charm of local breweries and cideries, enjoy live music and various food options, and taste hand-crafted, top-tier beverages.
