Group housing facilities include city and county jails, homeless shelters, dormitories and group homes. As of October 3, 2020, confirmed cases among those living in Wisconsin Department of Corrections facilities, which includes the Oshkosh Correctional Institute, are no longer included in WCHD data reports.

** Reasons a person could be counted as a probable case include: a positive antigen test, positive antibody test, or diagnosis due to symptoms and known exposure to COVID-19.

Don't put your family at risk this holiday season.
It's important to remember the incubation period for COVID-19 can be up to 14 days from last exposure and that negative tests are point-in-time negatives. This holiday season, remember that a negative test does not eliminate your need to quarantine as a close contact.

  • In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Winnebago County Health Department will be closed November 26-29. Our COVID-19 response team will be off on Thursday, Nov. 26, but will resume contact tracing and notification to positive COVID-19 cases on Friday, Nov. 27. Updates to our COVID-19 dashboard will resume on Saturday, Nov. 28. Daily Situation Updates will resume on Monday, Nov. 30. Please be assured that any urgent matters will be attended to over the holiday.

  • The Regional COVID-19 Testing Site at Sunnyview Expo Center will be closed November 26-29 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Find holiday hours for other testing locations in the area here. Testing at Sunnyview Expo Center will resume on Monday, November 30 at 10:00 a.m.

  • COVID-19 does not get the day off for Thanksgiving, and neither should our efforts to slow the spread of this deadly virus that is threatening our hospitals and endangering our families and friends. Please commit to helping our region have a safe Thanksgiving.   • While virtual holiday gatherings will be the norm this year, health officials want families, and family caregivers, to know that many resources are available to help if you notice changes in a family member’s health, self-care routine, memory or overall behavior this holiday season, even if you don’t live close to your loved one.   • On Friday, Gov. Evers signed a new Public Health Emergency Order due to strained hospital capacity in Wisconsin and issued Emergency Order #1, extending the mask mandate. Both orders were effective immediately and expire after 60 days or with a subsequent superseding order.

How to Protect Yourself from COVID-19

  • Wear a mask.
  • Stay at least 6 feet apart from people you do not live with.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating and after going to the bathroom, blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  • If you do not have soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Do not attend gatherings with people you do not live with.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Cough or sneeze into an elbow if no tissue is available. Wash your hands.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household disinfectant cleaning spray or wipe.
