Andy Burnham

Andy is committed to making Greater Manchester one of the best places in the world to start, scale and grow a business. Greater Manchester has a fantastic business ecosystem, creating good and meaningful jobs that benefit our residents and growing our economy is a Mayoral priority.
Before being elected Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy was MP for Leigh from 2001. In government, Andy has held Ministerial positions at the Home Office, Department of Health and the Treasury. In 2008 he became Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, before returning to Health as Secretary of State in 2009.

Cllr Allen Brett
Leader of Rochdale Borough Council

Councillor Brett started his career in teaching in 1969 having qualified at what is now Hopwood Hall College. He spent two years teaching in Uganda and ended his Secondary School career in Middleton before going on to Youth Work and then lecturing at universities.

First elected to public office on the previous Greater Manchester Council, Allen has been a member of the Labour Party for the last 40 years and has held most senior posts on Rochdale Borough Council, including two periods as leader.
Martyn Barrow Chair of the BID Steering Group said,

‘We are now entering an important period over the next few weeks as the plan is pulled together which will provide support to all businesses in Stakehill over the next five years. As plans for the estate to grow to the east and south and neighbouring residential development will put additional pressure on the road network, the key issues we will be working to address will include improving bus services and other travel options to the estate, having an effective business crime prevention scheme and improving amenities for those who work here.’
