The Bass presents Small Talk with Allora & Calzadilla. Meet the artistic duo Allora & Calzadilla for Small Talk, an informal conversation happening on Zoom facilitated by Executive Director and Chief Curator Silvia Karman Cubiñá. Works by Allora & Calzadilla are now on view in The Willfulness of Objects.

Currently on view, Graft comprises thousands of cast blossoms of the Tabebuia chrysantha tree, a common native species in the Caribbean, appear as though a wind had swept them across the floor. Graft alludes to environmental changes set in motion through the interlocking effects of colonial exploitation and global climatic transformation. Systemic deforestation and depletion of the Caribbean’s original flora and fauna is one of the primary legacies of colonialism. Temporary Change in Water
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) will temporarily change its method of chlorination at each of its regional water treatment facilities. Specifically, free chlorine treatment will be used to provide a somewhat stronger disinfection process than the combined chlorine treatment which is normally used at our regional water plants.

This change in treatment will begin Sunday, November 8, and will continue through Saturday, November 21.

During this period, County residents may notice a chlorine taste or smell in their tap water. This is a temporary condition that will not cause any adverse health effects and will ensure adequate disinfection levels in the water that they provide to customers. Learn more here.
