Chinese Consulate General in New York and Chengdu Municipal People's Government Jointly Hold the Promotion Event of Chengdu | |
On March 6, the Chinese Consulate General in New York and the Chengdu Municipal People's Government jointly held a Chengdu special promotion meeting. Consul General Huang Ping attended and delivered a speech. Liu Renyuan, deputy mayor of Chengdu, Wang Min, deputy director of Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio and Tourism, He Xiansong, chief engineer of Chengdu Park Urban Construction Bureau, and Zheng Yu, deputy mayor of Chongzhou City, delivered speeches and made city promotions. Orlins, Chairman of the National Committee on US-China Relations, delivered a speech, Jiang Bin, Director of the Chengdu Foreign Affairs Office, Fan Xiaojiang, Director of Asian Affairs of the New York Governor's Office, Qiao Han, Deputy Director of the New York City Foreign Affairs Office, Nie Jien, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York, and the Committee of 100 More than 150 guests from all walks of life in the consular district and representatives of diplomats from the consulate general were present, including Director Huang Zhengyu, President of China Institute He Zhiming, President of US-China Public Affairs Association Teng Shaojun, Executive Director of Cornell Arboretum Dunn, and others.
Huang Ping said that the protagonist of today's promotion is Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, the "Land of Abundance". Chengdu has been a pioneer in China's opening up since ancient times. The Southern Silk Road began in Chengdu more than 2,000 years ago. Today, Chengdu has become a new force and a highland for development in China's new round of opening up. In the future, the development of Chengdu will burst into greater vitality, and the advancement of the "Belt and Road" and the Yangtze River Economic Belt will achieve a new leap in Sichuan's expansion of open cooperation and improvement of the level of open economic development.

We are very happy to see that Chengdu has established friendly relations with Nashville, Honolulu, Phoenix and other American cities in recent years. The giant pandas in Chengdu are loved by everyone in the United States, and they have become a symbol and "messenger" of Sino-US friendship, conveying the goodwill and goodwill of the two peoples. | |

At the promotion meeting, Dr. Sun Qilin, an outstanding young piano artist from the Juilliard School of Music in Chengdu, presented the piano solo piece "Paintings of Bashu", which brought the guests into the beautiful and bright Bashanshu River, and felt the simplicity and mellowness of the local people. Sichuan Opera "Face Changing" artist Shen Wei won rounds of applause with his superb skills, pushing the atmosphere of the event to a climax. | |
Guests tasted Chengdu specialties; dandan noodles, bell dumplings, sad jelly noodle, panda glutinous rice balls, refreshing ice jelly aka Bingfen, brown sugar glutinous rice cakes, etc., and gathered around the rattan bamboo art booth to observe the teaching, and experience Chengdu's intangible cultural heritage handicraft culture. People also visited the Chengdu-themed photo exhibition with great interest, and communicated with the Chengdu delegation and diplomats from the Consulate General. The entire promotion event lasted for more than 3 hours in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The guests lingered and spoke highly of the event.
