One Stop Drop Enjoys
Beautiful Weather, Excellent Turnout
The 2021 Amberley Village One Stop Drop was a huge success, having served 450 cars at its recent recycling event! The event, which was held Sunday, September 26, collected nearly 23,000 pounds of electronics, 15,250 pounds of paper and 4,750 pounds of household items and clothing. The event was run by residents, volunteers and members of the Amberley Village Environmental Stewardship Committee, as well as staff from Cohen Recycling, Royal Document Shredding and Goodwill. The event was open to residents of any community, and was the first held in Amberley Village since April of 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Residents who participated in the event are encouraged to take a brief, six-click survey below to assist planning team members in gathering feedback. The Amberley Village Environmental Stewardship Committee, which runs the event, is committed to constantly seeking new ways to better serve the community.

Drug Take Back Day is October 23
The next DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be Saturday, October 23, 2021. National Take-Back Day is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs. Amberley Village will participate from 10 am – 2 p.m., allowing residents and neighbors to drop off unused or expired prescriptions.
The DEA will also accept vaping devices and cartridges at any of its drop-off locations during Take Back Day. It is important to note that DEA cannot accept devices containing lithium ion batteries. If batteries cannot be removed prior to drop-off, DEA encourages individuals to consult with stores that recycle lithium ion batteries.
Read more about the most recent Take Back Day totals below, and be sure and check out the DEA’s official Take Back Day website for more information. Amberley Village is a year-round collection site, and accepts unused or expired prescriptions, vaping devices and cartridges as described above 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Trick-or-Treat is Sunday, October 31 from 6 - 8 p.m.

Be sure to keep your little ghosts and goblins safe on Halloween by ensuring their costumes can be seen in the dark. If dark colors are incorporated into the costume, reflective tape, light-up accessories and glow-in-the-dark treat bags can help increase visibility.
Amberley Village Police-Fire Department beefs up patrols for safety, and will distribute candy throughout the community, as well as at the Public Safety window in the Municipal Building.

ASP: Accelerated Streets Program Update
Week of October 11:
Work on Fair Acres, Esther, Winding Way, Section and Galbraith that was anticipated to begin the last week in September was postponed to the week of October 11 as contractors worked to address staffing issues. The current plan for this phase of the project is as follows:
- Day #1: Mill and make base repairs to Fair Acres & Esther Drives
- Day #2: Mill and make base repairs to Winding Way
- Day #3: Mill and pave Section Road
- Day #4: Base repairs to Galbraith Road and pave side streets
Please note that work may spill over into the following week depending on weather and progress. Typically, the week following paving (once all streets are complete and have been permitted to set), a rejuvenant is applied to the newly-surfaced street which can double the life of the new pavement.
Amberley Village is committed to keeping residents informed of plans and progress on the Accelerated Streets Program, and has set up a web page for regular updates. These will also be sent out via social media and included in the E-Newsletters.
Please contact the Amberley Village Administrative Offices with any questions or for specific or additional information at 513-531-8675.

Maintenance Saves Tax Dollars
by Sharing Equipment with Local Municipalities
Have you ever wondered how trees and brush along the roadways gets trimmed so evenly? Well, take a look at the video above for a front-row seat of a boom arm mower in action! This specialized piece of equipment is borrowed from Symmes Township to assist in trimming overhead branches, brush and hard-to-reach areas alongside the road. Amberley Village Maintenance Department regularly looks for ways to collaborate with neighboring communities to maximize the money for services. Borrowing the boom arm mower is just one of many behind-the-scenes efforts our Crews make to ensure you're getting the most for your Amberley Village tax dollars!

Jewish Neighbors Celebrate Sukkot
Did you know that the communities of Amberley Village and Golf Manor are home to the largest population of Orthodox Jews in the tri-state area? Many residents may have noticed small structures in yards throughout the Village and surrounding streets toward the end of September. These structures play a significant part in celebrating the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.
The sukkah (pronounced [so͞oˈkä, ˌso͝okə]) is a temporary hut or walled structure covered with organic material. On the holiday of Sukkot, Jewish people spend time in the Sukkah, treating it like their home away from home. As described in the Torah, or the Hebrew Bible, the sukkah evokes the temporary dwellings the Israelites inhabited on their way out of Egypt.
Resident and Police Chaplain, Rabbi Mendy Kalmanson, arranged for the Village to visit a few of these structures, and prepared some background for residents less familiar with this Jewish practice. Special thanks to the Klinkowitz, Kalmanson, Levin and Edelstein families for inviting us to share their sukkot with the community!

Expect Fabulous Fall Colors
Throughout Ohio This Year!
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has released the 2021 fall color forecast, and it's expected to be spectacular! ODNR will provide weekly updates on the best locations to enjoy unique activities and the beautiful hues of autumn.
When forecasting fall color, foresters must consider several variables, such as sunlight, temperature, wind and rainfall when estimating the intensity and longevity of leaf color. This year, the ODNR Division of Forestry is expecting peak color to arrive in mid to late October. More information on the current forecast is available via the resource links below.
Those interested in finding the most eye-catching leaves throughout the season should check out ODNR’s fall color website, the official guide to the changing colors. The website includes:
-
Weekly color updates and information to help plan a fall color adventure;
-
Ideas for scenic road trips;
- Unique overnight accommodations at Ohio State Parks; and
- Fun activities to do around the state.

Time to Check Your Mailbox!
Stable, Sturdy & Straight: These three S's are critical to ensure that mail delivery service is interrupted. Every year, no matter how careful Maintenance Crews are when removing snow, mailboxes get knocked down or damaged during winter weather. Most instances of mailboxes being knocked over are the result of a mailbox not being stable, sturdy or straight. Over time, mailbox posts become weakened by weather, age and mowing around the base.
Fall is a great time of year to take a closer look at your mailbox and make any replacements or repairs to the base to make it stable, sturdy and straight!

Reminder: Dogs at Amberley Green
New signage has been added to Amberley Green to further clarify that dogs may ONLY be off-leash during the hours of dawn - 9 am and the hour prior to dusk. White delineators at the top of the hill mark the on-leash areas that apply even during off-leash hours.
Questions regarding restrictions and violation reports can be directed to Amberley Village Police Department at 513-531-2040.
Residents are reminded that dogs should not be left outside barking. Police officers respond to complaints of dogs barking for longer than 15 minutes.
Your courtesy for your neighbors and for our valuable police resources is greatly appreciated!

A friendly reminder to all residents - if you have a 513 or 859 area code, you’ll soon have to dial an area code — even for local calls — beginning Oct. 24. Right now, if you just dial the seven-digit phone number (without the area code), that call will connect locally.
Your telephone number, including the current area code, will not change. The price of a call, coverage area, or other rates and services will not change due to the dialing change. For more information, click the button below.
