Funding Opportunity: HRSA Offers $200,000 Rural Communities Opioid Response Grants
|
|
HRSA's Federal Office of Rural Health Policy will be giving 50 awards of $2000,000 each to rural communities in parts of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties to enhance their ability to address substance use disorder, including opioid use disorder. During and 18-month period, grant recipients will conduct a series of planning activities, engage multi-sector consortiums, and participate in the RCORP-Planning learning collaborative. On April 29th, California Improvement Network (CIN) partners from 14 organizations came together (virtually) to discuss adapting strategies to address social needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. The
San Luis Obispo Opioid Safety Coalition
partnered with the County Behavioral Health Department and the Food Assistance Program to provide opioids education and medication disposal bags to isolated and at-risk residents during the coronavirus pandemic. The disposal bags were donated by local pharmacies, the Coalition added storage and disposal tips , then passed them along to the Food Assistance program to be delivered to isolated or at-risk residents with food and prescriptions.

Vision:
To reduce opioid use and opioid related deaths in the Inland Empire.
Mission:
The Inland Empire Opioid Crisis Coalition (IEOCC) creates effective community collaborations between member organizations and individuals who need help with pain management and addictive disorders. The coalition employs the values and techniques of harm reduction and integrated care.
IEOCC will ensure the following changes occur in their communities:
- Education and engagement with service providers and community members.
- Safer prescribing practices for opioid medications.
- Increased use of medication-assisted addiction treatment (MAT), as part of a comprehensive system of integrated behavioral health care.
- Increased availability and use of the overdose reversal drug Naloxone.
