Please join Bellevue Schools Foundation’s first virtual Spring for Schools event on Friday April 30th at 12pm. Spring for Schools is the Foundation’s largest fundraiser and our students need your support now more than ever.

Bellevue Schools Foundation provides critical resources for our district and students, positioning BSD at the forefront of education with new tools including but not limited to:
·        Lightbox eBooks subscriptions for all Elementary students
·        Digital Makers for all Middle School students to create engaging web content
·        Music software apps designed to help all Secondary students practice independently during remote learning
·        Emergency Covid-19 support of food and hygiene items for our students and families through the Family Connection Centers.

Our theme this year is Engaging Hearts, Enriching Minds. Our 30-minute engaging Spring for Schools program will showcase initiatives that help students with social/emotional health and wellness and programs that interject joy into the online learning process.
Please join us and our special keynote speaker and local celebrity, Duff McKagan, founding member and bassist from Guns ‘N Roses, who will be sharing, through personal stories, why your support is so vital to our students.

Please register online at www.SpringForSchools.com. Since our event is virtual this year, you can join us from wherever you happen to be. If you are not able to make it to Spring for Schools, please consider making a donation online.

We appreciate your continued support of our students.

Interest-Based Teams Channels!
Hey Bellevue!!

Are you looking to form some community in this virtual world? Well you’re in luck, because leadership is so excited to introduce brand new interest-based channels for you to explore on Teams. We know school can get stressful, so these channels will give you the chance to take your mind off things while meeting cool new people and playing some fun games! The channels meet every other Tuesday at 11 am in the All-School Team. In these channels, you can play exciting trivia games, watch great TV shows, or join in on fun Among Us tournaments. Make sure to swing by and get in on the excitement every other Tuesday!

The next meeting is on March 9th at 11 am. We hope to see you all there!

Love,
Leadership
WOLVERINE GUARD UPDATES

Hi BHS Students! As your 2020-21 WG co-chairs, we love helping you get credit for all your community service especially in this year of high need. Here is an update and overview for the rest of this school year for the Wolverine Guard Awards.

Many students are doing a variety of creative and useful things to help others, from tutoring to making masks and organizing food drives to helping clean up wildlife habitats. Thanks to the students who have already completed your 100 hours and gotten your forms in. We are impressed by how you have cared about others and found ways to serve.

As a reminder, Wolverine Guard Awards are for students who donate 100+ hours in a school year from May 1 to April 30. Mid-winter and spring breaks can be a great time to put in extra hours ahead of the April 30th application deadline. For reminders on the WG guidelines and access to the necessary forms, go the WG website, https://www.bellevuehighptsa.com/wp/bhs-ptsa-funded-programs/2020-2021-wolverine-guard/.

As we stated above, we are here to help. We regularly post volunteer ideas in the Bellevue Bulletin, so be watching for those. And don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions about whether a certain volunteer activity will count toward WG or if you need help brainstorming or problem solving or if you have issues with submitting your WG application. We can be reached at wolverineguard@bellevuehighptsa.com.

Thanks again for all the ways you have served and continue to serve our community!

Best,
Annie Roth and Nancy Huenefeld Gese, WG co-chairs, 2020-21
ImPACT TESTING FOR STUDENT ATHLETES
Dear Student Athlete and Parent/Guardian,

We are excited to begin high school sports seasons this spring. If your ImPACT concussion baseline test has expired or you have never taken the required test, please read the instructions below for getting registered for this in-person test. All students must have a current sports physical AND most sports require a current ImPACT test on file with the school before the season starts. Fall season begins March 1 (February 24 for Football). Winter starts April 5, and Spring begins May 3.

Who needs to take the ImPACT Test?
Athletes for most sports must have a current concussion baseline ImPACT test completed to participate (valid for two years). Sports that do not require ImPACT testing are: Badminton, Drill Team, Swim Only, Tennis, Golf, or Track & Field (except Pole Vault requires the ImPACT test). Students participating in any other sport should be sure they have a current ImPACT test on file. You can see if your ImPACT test (or your sports physical) is expired by logging in to your FinalForms profile (https://bellevue-wa.finalforms.com/).

How to Register for ImPACT Testing
We are offering the ImPACT testing at two sites, Bellevue High School and Sammamish High School. Students will need to secure transportation to these sites and follow specific health and safety guidelines. Click on the links below to register for one of several test dates in February. Once a student registers, they will receive a confirmation in their BSD student email with full instructions.

ImPACT Test Instructions

This exam will take up to 45 minutes plus check in time, so be prepared to be here for 1 hour – 1 hour 15 minutes. You MUST:
· Bring your own fully charged laptop.
· Wear a mask, covering your mouth and nose, the entire time you are checking in and testing at school buildings.
· Complete the BSD Health Check  before arriving at the test site (ON THE DAY OF THE TEST). Make sure to get a screen shot of the completion page on your cell phone. You can also print or save a ‘print screen’ of the confirmation page from a laptop.
· If you have one, bring a wired or wireless mouse. We will have a few spares if you do not have one. Your trackpad is just fine but a mouse makes it easier and is highly recommended.
· Arrive on time. No late arrivals will be allowed.

FREE SCHOOL-WIDE TUTORING

Don’t miss this opportunity! National Honor Society is offering free school-wide tutoring every Tuesday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Open for all subjects. This is a great opportunity to get help in your classes from your peers in National Honor Society.
AP PAYMENT INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES
Dear Families of students enrolled in Advanced Placement Exams:

The Bellevue School District has made a decision to extend the payment due date for AP Exams. This decision was made based on the uncertainty which exists surrounding the format and the timing of the exams this year. Other factors taken into consideration; 1. there are no charges to schools this year from the College Board for unused exams. The College Board has waived these fees which in the past the school has absorbed. 2. we wanted to provide every opportunity possible for students this year given the full year of remote learning. Removing this deadline provides more time for students and families who have not yet made the decision to take the exams. The new payment due date is April 21st. This extension also applies to the scholarship/financial assistance due date now will be April 21st.  Scholarship Form.

We still do encourage families to process payments as soon as possible as there remains a full refund policy for students who have paid and decide not to take the exam.  If you have accounting questions, contact Cathy Lanning, lanningc@bsd405.org. Payments can be made on this link

If your student did not register for the exam during the regular registration window and would like to register for an exam, please contact Lynn Semler, AP Coordinator at semlerl@bsd405.org as soon as possible and no later than March 1st. Exam fees during this late registration period are now $135 per exam.

Thank you!!!
