What a week we’ve had! On Wednesday, July 14, a sinkhole was discovered outside the Senior Center. DPW was called in to assess the situation, and they discovered that a slow leak in a pipe had caused the problem. A 20’ by 20’ hole was dug so that the pipes could be replaced. The situation necessitated the shutdown of the Senior Center to protect the health and safety of both residents and employees.
The repairs were successful, and the contractor was able to install new pipes. The site will be secured and the hole filled in once the water flowing through the pipes has been checked for bacteria. There needs to be two consecutive days of no bacteria for the water to be deemed safe and approval given to re-open the Senior Center.
Our goal is to be open early next week, but that is dependent on the water samples. Stay tuned, check social media and watch for updates on when we’ll be able to re-open.
