Four Days to Complete Parents/Families Decision Form for Educational Options

As NUSD looks to a transitional reopening, we need families to make a decision about their students’ educational options. Please complete one decision form per NUSD student in your household no later than October 26, 2020.

NUSD Trustees Approve Benchmarks and a Path to Reopening

At the Oct. 14 Board Meeting, the Board of Trustees approved key benchmarks that would lead to a Transitional Reopening of our schools as early as November 16.

NUSD Invests in High-Performing Air Filters as Part of Safety Plan to Reopen Schools

NUSD has identified improvements to ventilation systems as an important requirement for the safe reopening of schools, beginning with our investment in air filters that perform at a higher rate than the standard air filters to capture pollutants and contaminants in the air.

School Site Safety Videos Available for Families

With the safety of students, families, and staff, as our top priority, NUSD has developed a series of site-specific safety procedures and actions to prepare students and staff for the return to in-person classes. These videos are meant to highlight the specific areas and do not capture all aspects of preparation. The school site plans provide more specifics. Both of these can be found in our Digital Backpacks.

Who should get tested? EVERYONE! There are now plenty of tests for everyone to get tested.

Why get tested? The more we test, the more we are able to track and slow the spread of COVID-19.

Keeping Students Connected
Witter Ranch Librarian sets aside time outside of school for students to discover new characters and books in a low-stress environment

Every Sunday, students at Witter Ranch Elementary School have the opportunity to open up their laptops, log in to Zoom, and gather for storytime and riddles, each week learning about new characters and books from their school’s librarian. This is just one of the many extracurricular activities being offered to students throughout the school to keep them engaged. Read the full story here.
Anti-Bullying PSA Contest Winners

Congratulations to our Anti-Bullying PSA Contest winners Mckane and Grady from Heron School, Amelia, Soraya, and Roxxy from H. Allen Hight Elementary School (video produced by Yesenia and Analiese from Inderkum High School), and Mia May from Inderkum High School! Winners will receive lunch of their choice delivered right to their doorsteps. 

We want to thank all of the students who participated in the contest; for showcasing their talents, sharing their voice, engaging their peers, and continuing the dialogue around bullying prevention.

Discovery High School Selected as Model Continuation High School

We are proud to recognize and celebrate the selection of Discovery High School as a Model Continuation High School.
 
The Model Continuation High School Recognition Program identifies and recognizes outstanding continuation high schools. These model schools provide comprehensive services to at-risk youth through the use of exemplary instructional strategies, flexible scheduling, and guidance and counseling services.

Latest Progress of Construction at American Lakes, Bannon Creek, and Jefferson School

The immense investment in South Natomas schools continues with two new classroom buildings and gyms at American Lakes and Jefferson School and a new gym with two classrooms at Bannon Creek. Resources You Need to Know
Virtual Tutoring and Wellness Center

Did you know we offer support services in American Sign Language, Spanish, Punjabi, Hindi, Russian- and other languages? We encourage students and families to take advantage of the Virtual Tutoring and Wellness Center for homework help, health advice, parent workshops, and much more.

Immunization Reminder for Students

Immunizations are still required for school even in distance learning. Please ensure your student's records are up to date now so your student may return to the classroom when we are able to return to campus.

  • Continue to wear a face covering when in public​
