HIP Fall 2022 Newsletter
NEW HIP TEAM MEMBERS

We are so excited to welcome two new faces to the HIP team!
They have been hard at work during this program launch season!
Welcome, Lindsay Peña and Michael Pih!
Lindsay Peña - Chief Program Officer

Lindsay is a native Floridian and proud University of Florida Gator alum. After college, she joined Teach for America and moved to Houston, Texas to be a first grade teacher. She then joined KIPP, a nationally recognized charter organization, as a teacher, assistant principal and founding principal of a KIPP elementary school.

Lindsay has transitioned back to her hometown of Tampa and is incredibly excited to continue her mission and work with HIP. In order for every student to receive an excellent education, Lindsay believes they must be physically and emotionally healthy.
Michael Pih - Chief of Staff

Before joining HIP, Michael worked in education finance, operations, policy, research, and strategy in the nonprofit and public sectors in Philadelphia, New York City, Newark, Baltimore, and Washington, DC. He received a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago, and a law degree from Georgetown University.

Based in Brooklyn, New York, Michael is excited to partner with the HIP community as it looks to expand HIP nationwide!
Program Kick-Off Trainings

During the last two months, we had over 450 student leaders and faculty sponsors join us for kick-off trainings across four counties! They came together to discuss what they feel are the current health challenges facing teens and how they are leading the charge at their schools to combat them. Everyone was so excited to be back together in-person!
Clinton Global Initiative Conference

HIP was invited to attend the 2022 Clinton Global Initiative in New York in September. The Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) brings together established and emerging global leaders to create and implement solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. HIP’s CEO, Risa Berrin, was also a panel discussion moderator at CGI.
GIVE MIAMI DAY
Join us on Thursday, November 17th for Give Miami Day 2022! Give Miami Day (GMD) is Miami’s premier online giving event to support the local nonprofit community. HIP will be raising funds to support our program in Miami-Dade County. Please visit our fundraising page at givemiamiday.org/healthinformationproject. If you would like to join HIP as a GMD Champion and spread the word, please let us know. Share @hiphealthy on Twitter/Instagram, and Health Information Project on Facebook!

As always, we are so grateful for your support of HIP, especially as we tackle the overwhelming mental health emergency facing children, teens and young adults.
